HELP - I forgot to put my patch on today

18 years ago 0 74 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I went about my day to for 5 hours yesterday before I realised I forgot to put my patch on!! I did put it on once I realised... I would agree with everyone else though. Go about your day, use your coping tools and reward yourself this evening for a job well done! So you went home and got your patch. So what?? You didn't smoke so no need to be hard on yourself!! Others might have bummed a ciggy off a colleague or bought a pack. YOu got through the moment took action and didn't smoke!! Be proud!!! From my past attempts, I would say forget about it. Patches simply prolong your body's nicotine addiction. This time I am not using anything and it is working great. Drink water, breathe deeply and vow not to do anything stupid!! Well, Josie et al., once I realized it I couldn't take my mind off the fact that I had forgotten. I was trying to read some documents and just couldn't concentrate. 98% psych I'm sure, but distracting nonetheless. I caved and drove home to get a patch around 10am. Sorry if that disappoints anyone. It disappoints me a little. But I didn't smoke! Hopefully when I get to weaning myself off the patches I don't get into a panic like that. Oh boy. I was late and in a hurry this morning and got to work realizing I had forgotten to put on my patch this morning. I'm still on the 21mg variety. This must have happenned to someone else on this list at some point. I could use some advice. Can I make it through the day or should I bust out of here and drive home? You shouldn't be disappointed! You DIDN'T SMOKE! That's all that matters and you should be very proud of yourself. Many people would have not driven home but would have driven to the nearest store to buy cigarettes. Congratulations. If you were on 7 mg I think it would have been different, but being on 21 mg. I think you made the right choice. But, you know what? who cares what I say? Really, this is your quit and you are the one who needs to be comfortable with it. Way to trouble-shoot. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 39 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 397 Amount Saved: $195 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 23 Seconds: 29

I forget my patch a couple of times (I'm off now) at around the same point as you are now in your quit. Look, I know you can make it through this day. I did. I also made it through other days before I quit when I was in a position to not be able to have a cigarette. It's the same thing. If you can, another option is to run to the drug store. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 39 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 394 Amount Saved: $195 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 17 Mins: 51 Seconds: 14
