18 years ago 0 118 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hey congrats on not caving in, and bumming a smoke from someone.I did that once, awhile back. i forgot to put on a patch, and when i realized it, i totally couldnt function. (21 mg one) i did the worse though. i had something stressful happen at work, and bamm, there i was bummin smokes. i tried to reson with myself, saying stupid things like, (well, it probably wasnt meant for me to quit.) boy was i stupid.hang in there, and carry an extra patch on you at work, just in case. hang on My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $12 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 45 Seconds: 3

You should feel NO disappointment in going after your patch and getting it on! Many times a quitter can make it through a day without the patch because there is still nicotine in your bloodstream, even though it will begin to deplete during the day.....much like quitting cold turkey, the craving from leaving the patches will peak at about 3 days.....therefore, some make it through the first day rather easily. I used patches to quit, and I heartily recommend them and credit them with my success. The objective is to quit smoking.....if you accomplish that by "weaning" yourself from the addictive substance (which is nicotine) then you accomplish the goal. I don't really agree that "weaning" is prolonging the agony. when I used to be faced with time and no smokes, I would simply panic.....the withdrawal I would feel after a few hours was NOT what a craving addict would call bearable.........on the other hand I can't say that I really suffered any sever withdrawal while on the patches....I used them for 12 weeks. at the end of that time I ran naked and never had any cravings to smoke. my final advice would be to put a spare patch in your desk at work....or in your wallet....or in your vehicle?? I advocate sticking to the patch program as instructed. good luck :) Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1860 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 74,418 Amount Saved: $10602 Life Gained: Days: 245 Hrs: 8 Mins: 41 Seconds: 24
