HELP - I forgot to put my patch on today

18 years ago 0 406 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Same thing happened to me; I turned right around and went straight home for a patch (then, like others have said, learned to keep one in the car!). Oddly, when I ran out of 21 mgs, I was horrified at the price and decided not to use any more patches. It turned out not to be a problem for me, but I sure understand why people would want to use them for as long as they need to (or could afford to!!). peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,021 Amount Saved: $550 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 8 Mins: 8 Seconds: 39

I agree, You forgot the patch because your need for nicotine is diminishing!! You'll be fine today! I wouldn't drive all the way home, just keep on doing what you've been doing, you are doing great! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 964 Amount Saved: $424.8 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 23 Mins: 9 Seconds: 4

I don't think you should be disappointed in yourself, and I did the same as you!! I forgot a couple times when I went to work and once I couldn't handle it anymore I went and got my patch. I started keeping an extra in my car after that just in case. Its better than smoking remember that! Stubborn, We're not dissapointed? You didn't smoke and that's what counts! Most quitters notice a adjustment of a day or two, others don't. Every quitter is different. Don't worry, if you use the same strategies you've used to get to 16 days, you'll be just fine. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Stubborn, You did what you had to do....And going home to get the patch was your choice and I agree with you. I am so proud of you. You did this to protect your quit and that tells me you are determined and committed. Don't let you guard down for nothing, and stay strong.... The important thing is not to smoke. But, I detect a note of panic that you forgot the patch. Not that you were going to smoke. Were you more concerned with smoking, or having the patch! Quitting is more complicated than I thought. I'm using the gum and I have not stopped to think of what would happen if I got caught somewhere without it. This is a good subject to bring up. If you forgot to put it on, it means that you are on the right track...it is not longer a necessity, drink lots of water and keep busy Carlos My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 53 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 533 Amount Saved: $53 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 15 Mins: 24 Seconds: 31

Stand PROUD! Using the patch as directed is NOT a sign of weakness. It is not everyone's way, but it was my way, and it looks like it is certainly working for you. Forgetting it is a sign that you are succeeding. That you are not at every moment obsessed with cigarettes (just much of the time :)) When I forgot one in phase three of the patches at 7mg, i just said the heck with it and went naked. But at your stage, I totally agree with your course of action. I think you did great! Keep a patch in your wallet, so that if you forget, you don't have to run home.
