Unable to sleep through the night.

If you're on the patch or any other kind of NRT, be sure and cut it off (or remove patch) before going to bed. You might also want to try some (ack!!) herbal tea, which I am just now starting to be able to choke down. (It tastes a lot better with a big old splash of gin in it, but of course I would never suggest such a thing, even in jest!) Seriously, any alcohol before bed is a sleep-killer. peteg

Melotonin works for me. Caffeine and I do not get along at all anymore. No diet coke after 5 for me. Makes me feel old saying that! (I guess I am) LOL... Thank you all for your suggestion. Since my sleeping pattern is getting worse, I checked in with my doctor today and he prescribed me with Rozerem (sleeping pill). I will keep you posted with progress. Thanks again. -TT

Hi TT, Stay away from caffeine in the evenings - seems to be stronger for us non-smokers! Good luck - hope you get a restful night soon! Members, Herbal supplements may provide great therapeutic benefits. However, it is known that natural alternatives are not always safe. Some supplements like melatonin have been shown to interact with medications, cause allergic reactions or aggravate certain medical conditions. We advise you to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before commencing any alternative therapy. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

TT Please make sure to check with your doctor if you decide to use melatonin. As with any medication, natural, homeopathic, chemical, eastern, western, it is a medication and can have serious contraindications, side-effects and cause some serious problems. melatonin and the side effects of certain liver drugs, antiretrovirals and hepatitis c I found that in order to get a great nights sleep I prepared myself for exactly that. I was careful of what I consumed, did some relaxation practice and made sure I was tired before I went to bed. Josie has some great advise in her response. Hello TT - I sure was there... Melatonin is what I used... AND please make sure to check w/your doc and/or READ the labels on all homeopathic remedies... It worked for me and many here... Take a hot bath with bath salts, light some sweet candles, and I love lavender or peppermint oil in the bath (don't use alot of the oil)... A relaxing and nurturing bath will create calm - and may help you fall asleep and sleep through the night... Sweet dreams :) ~ Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 254 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,921 Amount Saved: $1181.1 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 1 Mins: 16 Seconds: 20

TT, No matter what I tried, it didn't work so here I am over 2 years later still not sleeping through the night. I wake 2/3/4 times briefly before falling back to sleep. It's a small price to pay to be smokefree and so much healthier. I'm happy. Penitent d911
