Am I going to spend the rest of my life hiding under the blankets?

Windy What about joining an exercise club for night time activity? Get an aerobics work out with a spinning class (bike) or similar?

Windy, You are doing great in this quit and the way that you are feeling is perfectly normal. I know you probably feel like you are the only one who feels the sense of discouragement and frustration, but we have all been through it and it really is temporary. Just hang on and get through this. Do whatever you have to, just DON'T smoke. You aren't copping out at all. You're just working at reversing something that has become such a huge part of you and your body has to re-adjust and it will. C'mon now, chin up, put on your kickin butt gloves, and let's get this done! Windy you did great, got through hell week, now you're going through heck week. Of course it still isn't easy it's a process and you have to go through it, all of it. It's slow !!! I know but so worthwhile, patience is the key. I cried, I yelled, I slept a whole lot and gradually all this returned to normal, I too thought this would never go away, I would post and post and cry while posting, punch my pillows thinking this is never going to go away I want to feel good. Well ALLELUIA it happened I feel good and I don't smoke. It's all worth it for FREEDOM it will get better this is a PROMISE. Better to hide under the covers for a month or two than to hide behind a cloud of smoke for a lifetime. Hang in there Windy. Be loving to yourself. From what I have read, you really are doing great. Hello Windy, First I want to assure that in time the evening restlessness (and the need to go to bed early) will subside. In the meantime, evening treats can help you relax and pass the time. I used to sip decaffeinated gourmet coffee (or tea) in a pretty teacup and saucer (which made it more special) while watching TV or reading. Nibbling slowly on gourmet dark chocolate or cut-up fruit was another treat'. The trick (for me) was simply doing something that felt special. -Taking a bubble bath -Painting my toenails a pretty color -Saving a special magazine or book to read at night -Using a 'certain sugar free mint' only at night You get the idea. Over time you may find that doing nice/special things for yourself not only helps you to relax and pass the time, it feels better than the cigarette break ever did. Keep trying new things until you find what works best for you and your lifestyle. Stay strong! :) All the best~ 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 395 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,706 Amount Saved: $1975 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 13 Mins: 25 Seconds: 9

I know what you mean about bed being a refuge, Windy. It had been decades since I smoked in bed, so there was no association between bed and smoking. It seemed like no matter how bad a crave was, going to be would kill it. So I spent a lot of the first few weeks in bed, sometimes reading, sometimes sleeping, and often just lying there wishing sleep would come. Do what is necessary for the first few weeks, Windy. I know it seems like a real long time, but in the overall picture it is really pretty short. :) Keep up the good quit! ;) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 485 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,711 Amount Saved: $1843 Life Gained: Days: 90 Hrs: 12 Mins: 34 Seconds: 23
