Help, 37 days and my withdrawls are getting seriously bad!

18 years ago 0 318 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hope you made it. It takes a week for Chantix to start working. I took it for 3 weeks befor I quit. I have tried all the other NRT and I think no matter what we have to do it on our own. If we go cold turkey or use some drug. I fell like I have gone cold turkey. But I don't know yet until I stop takeing the Chantix. But it is differant than Nicotine replacement. This site saved me from a relapes today. Hope you make the tranfer to Chantix. Thanks for all the great advice. Guess I just got so overwhelmed with the withdrawl that I simply blanked out all the good advice here. I do have anti-anxiety medication. I also took up crocheting again just as a distraction which worked really well. Also, I think I am stressing because I have to go back to work soon. Not looking forward to that. I will try the 7mg again tomorrow. If I have problems again I will post a reminder note next to my chair, so, if I do blank it out again, it will remind me. Thanks everyone for all the great advice! I know I can do it!! ;) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 948 Amount Saved: $138.75 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 22 Mins: 2 Seconds: 26

I downgraded to the 7 MG patch and the withdrawls came back with a vengeance. Turned into a serious b--ch! :quest: I tried the deep breathing and it worked for about 5 minutes. I ended up putting 2 7mg patches on just to avoid! Any other suggestions? Well, it's day 39 and I still have not smoked! Guess that's a good sign. I started a new medication today called chantix. I am hoping that it will help me eliminate the patch all together. I am still having urges which tells me that I am still addicted to the nicomonster. It is getting better though. I am taking everyone's advice and staying busy with my crocheting and also doing a lot of running around during the day. It all serves as a distraction and definately helps. Also found out today that I don't have to go back to work for at least another month. That's a huge relief! I am working hard to get through this latest bad patch and have absolute confidence that I can make it through! Thanks to all who have posted here, it is really helping me a lot! Hi Trisha, It's nice to know that I am not alone in this. Tomorrow I am going to start a new medication called Chantix. My doctor wrote a script for me today. It's brand new on the market and is not nicotine replacement. I sure hope it works for me. I have been a little better today but not out of the woods yet. I will let you know how it works. Thanks for being there for me. Really appreciate it. Hi Trailbum, Just to let you know that I am doing great now. I have come off the patch and am taking just Chantix. It seems to be working good for me after 8 days on it. Of course, I have been off cigarettes for 46 days now so that is really helping I am sure. Either way, no more nicodemon! I never thought I would ever get through this and I am still amazed that I have no real urges anymore. First thing in the morning was the toughest part of my quit. Anyway, thank you so much for your support. I know we can do this! :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,166 Amount Saved: $172.5 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 12 Seconds: 40

Lady- We have the same quit date!!! I also for some reason the last few days have had a hard time, you think it would be better. When I first quit I was coughing, sore throat and there was no way I could think of a smoke. Now I am feeling better...... I crave. I will not smoke but just wanted to let you know you are not alone. This will pass, we can do this!!! Keep reminding ourselves the benefits from quitting!!!! hi ladyarwen....i know how you're feeling, I went down to the 7mg patch a couple days ago. I didn't have a hard time at all with the change from 21 to 14 but i'm seriously wanting to smoke right now and feeling dizzy and spacey like i did when i first quit. Went for a walk, chewed on a straw (haven't done that in weeks) nothing seems to be working, soon it will be time to go to bed just to forget about it My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,339 Amount Saved: $184.24 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 16 Mins: 31 Seconds: 59

Sue; I don't have anything to offer as I wasn't a patch user, but please hang in there. We're pulling for you! LadyArwen, I found the hardest was 21mg to 14, second time I went down wasn't so bad, 7mg to nothing was a breeze, compared and I had a prescription for it for 4 weeks and took it off after 2 weeks and it was fine, since then freedom and loving it. My prescription was for 4 weeks on 14 mg maybe you're going too fast. Keep it on at 14 a little longer and then when it's time take the plunge and don't look back. You can do it, it gets better :)marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,601 Amount Saved: $424 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 1 Mins: 55 Seconds: 26
