A Proud Moment

Well, we had a doc appt for my daughter and that news was excellent. During our office visit, we had to turn off the cell phones. Of course we had the rental until they could get our vehicle on the lift and see what kind of damage was done to the transmision. As luck would have it, the insurance company will not pay to have it fixed which the estimate was 1800 - 2100 dollars. Of course my 1st instinct was to run and buy a pack and smoke away my stress. I was in complete panic mode!! I followed my emotions the entire time and I did NOT smoke during this stressful time!! We went to a car dealership and bought a new used vehicle!! I fought those urges and natural instinct to light up! I followed the path instead of fighting it!! I truely feel in my heart this was a test of my inner strength!! I now know what it is like to see the situation out in front of the fog instead of behind it. I know that all stressful situations will not be like the one it was yesterday BUT if I can handle what has happened to us this entire week, then I can handle everything else w/o a smoke!! I am proud of myself for protecting my quit as well as handling that test. Everyone has a different hurdle to jump and I think mine was eysterday!! Hi Phil!! I agree with you and the first step is being honest w/ ourselves. We are fooling no one but us. I have found dealing w/ everything 'as it happens' has made me see things in a different light. I try not to foresee into the 'what ifs' at the moment. Does that make sense? =) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 223 Amount Saved: $44 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 19 Seconds: 1

Duckie: QUACK-QUACK!!! :) You came through a very stressful situation and passed the test with flying colors! Last year I went through the same dilemma-keep pouring money into car repairs or buy a new car that we couldn't afford. Did the same as you-bought a new used car. That's a nerve wracking experience! You did good! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,719 Amount Saved: $272 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 12 Mins: 53 Seconds: 38
