I'm taking a lot of walks. Make sure the walk includes uphill climbs. Thanks everyone for your advice! I will try to do the relaxation techniques that you have suggested. I have taken two walks today. And feel a little better. Lunch might help too lol. For some reason today I am having trouble concentrating! My sleep pattern is still messed up. I wake up every night at 2am and have a hard time falling back to sleep. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the concentration because I am at work and my options are limited. I have had some junkie thoughts today but have pushed them away. Just can seem to settle down, thanks so much ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 82 Amount Saved: $84.8 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 36 Seconds: 21

Valic I am so sorry you are having a tough time right now. Try doing some deep breathing.....really let your mind only think about your breathing. Maybe some relaxing techniques, I know you are at work but if you can just get up and talk a short walk somewhere, clear your mind and get some fresh air. I also have had some sleep trouble but I wake up around 12:30 to 12:45, I think mine might also be due to the patch. Getting close to going off of it so we will see. I have used like Tylenol pm some nights if I have had a tough night the night before and I still usually wake up but I am able to go right back to sleep. I have also heard that warm baths before bed are great too. Please keep posting here and we will help you through this tough time, you are doing so great, it will get better. Valic this also will pass, it's incredible what a person can go through during this journey, makes you grow doesn't it. Well the first 4 weeks I walked my dog everyday and borrowed the neighbour's dog at night to take another walk. I would move continuously my hubby couldn't keep up with me. I'm calmer now, still have a ways to go, so keep up the good fight, one day at a time :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 689 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 22 Seconds: 7

I had noticed a problem concentrating early on in my quit, and even now I have times where I seem preoccupied or distracted. Seems I was, and still am a bit, consumed with the quit. But I will say, that it is so much better now than at first. Also---it could be the drugs  Prescription wellbutrin that is! :) LOL It will get better, I assure you! Hi Valic, The lack of concentration is frustrating for sure... I strongly recommend Keep up with B vit's. B1 B6 B12 and Folic acid.. Not the vit. you swallow, but the tablet under the tongue. I urge everyone to look into this,... if you don't already know how beneficial these vit's are. They do a great deal in helping to maintain coping abilities, which also helps with anxiety, Which in the end means less depression. Any Reg... family Dr's can confirm this. The reason for multiple vit's is because you need one to absorb the other. Under the tongue... because the ones you swallow just pass through your system. No.... it won't help with the cravings... but it will at least help My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,075 Amount Saved: $354.29 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 8 Mins: 57 Seconds: 26

Hey valic - I had trouble like that - I got on the treadmill and walked until I couldn't walk anymore. I slept I want to tell you.... Exercise helps me relax. That's my way out. It helps me sleep too. You'll find what works for you. Hang in there - it gets a lot better/easier.
