That book by Alan Carr is great! I've read it and I keep it in my car for a quick reference when I need a boost.

I bought two hypnosis cd's and listen to both of them. I wouldn't say it really did anything. I use them as meditation cd's. I went cold turkey and wanted to get the nicotine withdraws over instead of extend them. Navagator I have been quit for 4 Days, 9 hours, 2 minutes and 3 seconds (4 days). I have saved $15.31 by not smoking 87 cigarettes. I have saved 7 hours and 15 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 6/15/2006 11:59 PM

I havent had that kind of hypnosis, but I have read Allen Carr Easy Way to quit smoking. I guess that is pretty much the same, as it changes your mental attitude. However, you are in charge of your own thoughts, and after a few days physical withdrawal, it then becomes mostly a mental withdrawal, your mind is fairly powerful and it can play tricks. So I thnk you will still need will power. Plan for your quit, work for your quit, and stick with your quit. I dont think there is an easy route, as I child i remember my father going to hypnotherapy a few times for smoking. He always ended up back on them.. So be aware that you will need to really want to quit, to stay quit. Hi Kay and welcome to the SSC. You have come to the right place for support in your quit smoking journey. Apply yourself to the Quit Program Tools and prepare yourself for your quit date. We will be here to support you in any way possible. I smoked 1 to 2 packs for 23 years. This is my first quit and I do not miss smoking. Once the addiction left my body and I realized all the lies that I had been falling for for so many years ... I do not want to ever go back. You can succeed in your quit if you want to. If you need aids to get you started, go for it. What is important is that you get started. Kay, Hypnosis does have some bearing in a quit attempt as it may help to change your subconcsious thoughts. However, this doesn't mean you'll get hypnotized and that'll be it. Your still going to have to work at maintaining your quit. Keep persevering, Danielle _________________________________ The SSC Support Team

I have had one friend try it. For him, it didn't work, but you could get different results. To me, it seemed like quitting smoking was a whim idea for him, so, probably, nothing would have worked at that time in his life. What does seem to work is the Quit Program Workbook on the left of the screent. Try it, along with the hypnosis. Hi Kay, Can't speak about hypnosis at all, however, I agree with N2K, it will help if you want to quit. The SSC is a great place for quitters and you probably have already noticed if you have been reading the posts here. Pick a quit day and come on back and tell us when it is! I tried hypnosis AND acupuncture. Would have been equally effective to perform some pagan ritual over the hundreds of dollars I blew on each of them. :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,897 Amount Saved: $1098 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 2 Mins: 42 Seconds: 51
