I'm so hot, I want to run out into the street naked

Hi, Sorry to hear that but at least you now have a reason for the hot flushes and can get medication to help.... It just sucks when you are having the flushes cause of quitting the smokes.. I started having them last night (no way I am menopausal yet) and they are driving me insane... Nothing I can't cope with though... just kinda feels like having the flu (without the sniffs and the muscle pains whew!!) Krissie

I take medicine for the bipolar disorder--anticonvulsants. I've calmed quit a bit. The meds are new. The old ones cause diabetes. I just turned 45, too and I'm wondering if I am menopausal. I have a doctor's appointment Monday. Had to have a hysterectomy years ago, so telling if I'm in menopause is not easy. I quit partly for my 45th birthday. I don't think psychiatrists do enough to understand smoking addiction and withdrawal or helping thie patients quit. Quitting smoking plays major games with me. I have bipolar disorder, and not being able to sleep makes it worse. Further, the psychiatrist can't tell what role quitting smoking is playing in my hypomania. But I have not smoked in weeks, and I went cold turkey from two packs a day. Josie, where are you???? it's okay being menopausal. Instead of estrogen... I'll continue to take my mood stabilizers and use fans. Hi bgaineshunter, I call those "hot flashes"!!! But in all seriousness, I noticed that I have been sweating more also. I know I have been over my hot flashes for quite a few years so it is not that. If that is the worse of your symptoms be thankful and buy a strong fan and sit in front of it. I ended up buying a fan for work and I have one that stays on me while I am sleeping. Do whatever you need to but just don't take the risk of running down the street naked..the next post may be "I was so hot, ran outside naked and was arrested"!! Take care and stay strong.
