Smoking Again

17 years ago 0 715 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi all :) I'm posting, not to disapoint anyone but to shed some light on what a terrible addiction smoking is and just how easily you could be smoking again before u know it. During the year and 4 months I quit smoking I had bad craving in the beginning and got through them. Then I had to start dealing with emotions and got through it. I was very happy that I had quit and extremely happy every time I woke up smoke-free the next day after making it through a tough really spot. I honestly believed I would remain smoke-free the rest of my life. Then one evening, July 2 to be exact, a friend and I were eatting at a restaurant (the day after the smoking law took affect in Colorado, how ironic), anyhow we came out after dinner and she lit up a cigarette and I don't know why but I took it out of her mouth and stated smoking it. I wasn't thinking about smoking, wasn't craving it at all! And was in a pretty good mood too. Ciggaretts were the furthest thing from my mind. I have no idea why I grabbed that ciggarette from her? I enjoyed it very much. The next day I went to her house and smoked another one. And then the next day went to her house and smoked 2. Then the next day I couldn't wait to go to her house and smoked 3. I said I wasn't going to be a smoker again so I wouldn't buy a pack or smoke at my house. Then one night I went in on a pack with someone and started smoking on my porch. Still just 3 or 4 a day. Now I'm back to a pack a day of newports and smoking wherever I feel like it. And to top it off have absolutly no desire to quit anytime soon. Let this be a warning,,,spur of the moment impulses may come out of no where and you'll have no idea what happened and before u know it you're a smoker again. If u find yourself reaching for someone elses ciggarette without thinking,,,stop yourself, fast. As I was thinking twice about it, the ciggarette was already in my mouth. I don't know what happened? I'm usually very good at figuring out what's going on with myself but this experience is something new to me. All I can think is that the addiction lies there waiting to sneak in on you at any moment that u let your guard down. Maybe I just got to confident. I really don't know? So I guess what I'm saying is don't let your guard down. This is a very serious a

Dear Cherie: Sorry things worked out the way they did. I am very thankfull that you took the time to explain what happned so that others could possibly learn and grow. I don't care who you are or how strong you are, there is always the cigarette lurking in the background. You have been a shining example here at the SSC and being sober for 10 years is not small feat in its self. If you decide to try to quit again I am sure you have a lot to offer, not only to yourself but to many others as you have done in the past. Roxanne and I wish you the best. I always have something to say and Ill say it just as soon as I figure out what it is. Wow, Cuteness, you sure know how to shock a person, dont you? Okay. As far as letting any of us down, you didnt. Youre the one who fought and cried and won. Yes, you won. This is just a setback. I KNOW you. Youre the one who was always there the one who always had something good to say about everyone the one who lived up to your name Joyful. You will also be the one to beat this dreadful addition. I know you will. Bogman, you and Joyful get your fannies back in here and quit. I eat one of your yummy yogurt concoctions several times every week; and every time I do, I think of you. I do not want to think of you smoking. ITS BAD FOR YOU. Love to you both. Come home soon. Cherie, so many people here love you. You have been the topic of many conversations in the past few days. I know you will eventually find your way back...we all do. We just hate to see you have to go through it all over again. But when you do, you know that we will all be here for you. Because we love you.
