Having a tough few days

Hi Rainne - I do know how you feel. And I do know that even if you smoke, it's not going to change your present situation. During the 2-1/2 years previously that I was smoke-free, I had things going on that were almost Jerry-Springer-Show-worthy, and through that entire period (I'm still not sure how), I didn't smoke. It was when things had settled down, and I was less vigilent and dropped my guard, that I started again. Quitting for the 2nd time was WAY HARDER than the 1st time - knowing I had been successful before didn't help. Deciding to quit, knowing it had to be FOREVER was the tough part. You have come so far already - you are through the toughest part. You are probably tired - from work, from school, from everything going on at home. Stay smoke-free - don't give yourself any reasons to doubt yourself, your resolve, your confidence. And just because someone says or thinks something, doesn't make it true. Deal with your boyfriend when you have a clear head. Don't associate how he makes you feel with smoking. It won't make it better. Stay tough. Take care. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 611 Amount Saved: $216 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 9 Seconds: 23

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Raine, My very first post here, was something like, I need support to give up smoking, and I said how I found it so hard as every time I tried to quit, i felt like i was rowing with my boyfriend he was unsupportive and i would go back to smoking, I wanted this time to be different. AND it is, because HE is not my support network for smoking, I dont talk to him about it, I come here for support (even when I am at his house) Right now second part - You work all day then you come home and do the cleaning and make dinner, do you clean up after him? Do you make his dinner? Aragh.. this guy needs a reality check. He wants a mother not a girlfriend. If I was you, I would go on strike I wouldnt touch his stuff for say a week, then he could see what a lazy person I was. Believe me, I went through this over and over again with my boyfriend and smoking and it only changed when I came here, the reason for that, was because I wasnt looking to him for support or happiness. We are all responsible for our own happiness... post here often, we will be here for you! We will listen... take care, and PLEASE PLEASE DONT SMOKE (Honstley I did that 6 or 7 times this year, its so upseting to throw away a quit) Write down all the reasons that you quit - WHY and why are they still relevant to you today. Just please dont smoke...(or I will be ahead of you in the quit... and right now you are winning.. hehe) ok? Thank you so much everyone. I'm on the verge of a good cry this time. It's wonderful knowing that there are people here who will lift me up. Honestly, you guys are 90% of how I've kept my quit. I may not be that active and that involved with anyone, but just knowing that I'd have to answer to anyone here has kept me quit. You're all so much more amazing than you know. Please think about that...you provide countless numbers of people with support the likes of which you don't even know you're capable. For that, I am so inspired by you all. Today was very hard for me. I cleaned cleaned cleaned while he sat on his butt watching the World Cup. I had my brother and his gf, plus my old high school best friend and his gf, over for dinner tonight. I got TONS of compliments on how wonderfully different I seem since I've quit. Everyone RAVED about my cooking (we had homemade Queso, fried tostadas, enchiladas and chiles) so I felt great when everyone left here fed and full and happy. But I also was feeling very down all day because of what's been going on with the bf. I can't talk to him, because he's literally devoid of any emotion. He was not like this until a year ago. He's developed a serious alcohol problem. He is an alcoholic. I will admit it. That's where the problem is. I think I wi go to his parents' house this week and talk to them (his dad is a recovering alcohoic) and let them know that their son has a problem. It will be better for everyone. Thank you so much everyone, for reading and just being there. I thought that nobody cared, but it's obvious that we all care about each other here. I'm sorry if I'm getting really emotional over this. I'm just dumbfounded, in complete awe, at the caliber of people we have here. Each one of you is brave, and dedicated, and strong beyond belief. Despite everything you're all going through with your quits, you still come through to support others who are going through different troubles. For that, you are all heroes. God bless you all, and thank you again, Rainne My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 389 Amount Saved: $87.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 5 Second

It's my boyfriend who's bothering me. I work every day 630am til 4 or 5, then I go home, clean and make dinner, and go to school from 630pm to 930pm. When I get home, I do homework, shower and go to bed around midnight. And he has the NERVE to tell people that all I do is sit on my @$$ Yesterday as my day off of school, so I came home from work at 6, and he was sleeping on the couch, so I spent HOURS cooking and I cleaned the whole entire house because he couldn't be bothered to do it. I as standing at the sink almost crying, so stressed and I just HATED myself, and all I wanted to do was go cry and smoke smoke smoke like I used to when I felt like this. I've been really down lately because of his attitude. He doesnt appreciate anything, doesnt think I do anything all day, even though I'm obly home for 1.5 hours a day, and it's only to cook for him. First thing this morning he says that I leave &^$&( all over the house. WHAT!!!??? I'm not going to smoke. I WILL NOT SMOKE. But I just can't shake this feeling of being so unlovd and unappreciated, and a cig would be like my escape, I would have somthing to fall back on. I can't handle another few days like this. I'm on the verge of tears every second. I almost cried on the floor at work yesterday. Hi Rainne! First off ... have one of these: Anytime you need a cyberhug ... just let me know. Second, remember this: Non-smokers have selfish, unappreciative partners as well. Smoking will not change him. You can not change him. The only person you can change is yourself. You need to take care of you Rainne. He can pick up after himself and cook his own meals for awhile. If not, send him to his Mother's house. Have you been rewarding yourself Rainne ... every day, every week, every mile stone? Look at yourself in the mirror ... Love yourself, appreciate yourself, reward yourself. You deserve it. Believe that, because it is true. Rainne.... You have a fabolus quit there! Congratulations on your 25 days! Come here for the support you need. Days when you feel like doing nothing but crying are tough. I know the work, school, home routine very well. I just finished school myself. Be sure to take some time for yourself. Take a break. Take a day off and do something for you. You would be amazed at how much better you will feel after taking some time for yourself. Don't forget to reward yourself for your AWESOME accomplishment here. The rewards are extremely important in the quit process. Hang in there, things will get better. Smoking won't make anything better. It won't take away the pain. It will just add to it. You are doing GREAT don't let anyone discourage you!
