Shevie - may I respectfully remind you that nomad1973 asked about his meter... I think he was asking everyone, not just one person... :) Blessings- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 111 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,913 Amount Saved: $516.15 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 12 Mins: 0 Seconds: 52

nomad1973 - Don't be scared, you can do this... We are all doing it one moment at a time, so take the time to decide what's best for you. Do the program on the left if you haven't already. I did cold turkey, some use the patch. Take some time to read as much as possible here and ask questions so you can find the best way for you. And we are all here to support you... nomad1973 - Take some time to build up your tookbox of coping skills - as tough and tougher times are going to come up. This Quit journey is tough, you have to be prepared, and to have a plan for the worst days... There are different opinions about resetting your meter. When you smoke you are definitely not Quit, so I say reset it so you are honest with yourself. Read about this here (do a search for resetting the meter) as many have said, from experience, that not being honest w/yourself (not resetting it when you lose a Quit) can very likely make it easier next time to have a 'slip'... You have not been Quit for 13 days if you smoked, right? Time to get serious about your Quit... Update for everyone who's concerned: I went today without a patch on, but I put it in my pocket just in case. No cravings. I kept busy. My wife had a list for me of things to do that had been building up for a week, and I just busted them all out. Went to a open house for one of our babysitters, didn't even crave, even though the only people I knew were the girl's family and my own. I'm feeling really good today. Nothing to even remind me of smoking. I'm surprised. I was very scared about going off the patch. I was even more scared about quitting at all. My wife has been very supportive. You guys have been supportive. Thank you all. I'm only doing two weeks on the patch because I want off the nicotine quick, but I didn't want to go cold turkey. I failed on cold turkey too many times before. I was scared, and I guess I'm still scared. I had one. I don't know why. I was feeling like I had too much to do, and everything was coming down around my head. Didn't solve anything, because it's all still there.... Didn't help at all, so now I really know it doesn't help anything. Do I really need to reset my quit meter? Please pray for me. I need strength more than anything. Tomorrow's my last day on the patch, and I'm scared. Thanks, guys... I've learned from it. I know where not to go when I'm craving. Doesn't matter. I also need to remember just to dive in and get stuff done... That's my biggest problem. I see all the stuff that needs done, and I used to just smoke because I couldn't get my head wrapped around it all. Didn't make it go away, it just made me stinky. NOPE again. I'm still here, and I'm not giving up! The demon's found a strong one here... Just because he snuck up on me, doesn't mean he's won the battle.
