Maria, you're doing great. You almost have a week under your belt. It sounds like you are a teacher and if so, bless you! I admire teachers. I love kids but couldn't do it. I'm on day 5 and my weekend was rough. My mood really stank and I was extremely cranky. However, the bright moments felt brighter than usual, as brief as they were. The freedom from the stogies is very satisfying. I know the uglies will pass. I'm doing lots of reflecting today-9/11. I'm glad I have the chance to quit smoking. Many never got the chance. Dear Friends, Start of day 6 and I am actually glad to go to work. It's like lock down.no access to the outside world, just surrounded by a bunch of kids which makes it REAL. Today is 9/11 here in the US and it is such a sad day for all of us.... Had a bit of a hard time yesterday. I have discontinued the patch and have only relied on the gum to get through. My mind keeps thinking about smoking and I have to continually tell myself..it's a done deal, get over it, it won't happen, ya-da, ya-da.. it's like convincing yourself you are not the person you were for 32 years...with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth, blowing smoke. But I know smoking does not help me be the person I want to be... I want over this so bad... I will hang in there....Maria

Maria, Glad to hear you are hanging in there. Your first week is almost over. 9/11 hit hard up here in Canada as well. And yes, like someone said, at least we have the opportunity to quit smoking many didn't. when you think of it that way, it really puts things in perspective. Keep up the great work, Maria.

Maria, You can do it.Try not to worry to much about things you can not change. Love yourself, and want the change. Embrace it love it. Self discovery is a powerful, awsome thing. May be a little scary, but so worth it. Espescialy when quit nicodemon is the root. Are you a school teacher? That in itself could be a great sorce of motivation for you. Teachers are supposed to be role models for the younger generations. Maybe some of your students will help inspire you, and push you foward. Chin up Hell Week is almost over. It does get better. Have a great smoke free day.
