Shevie, Thank you so much for posting this story! Tht is really awesom, and i'm so proud of you. I can imagine myself int hat situation and wanting just like that. Good for you though.. you see what you did? you made a new habbit for when the power goes out. Ours went out last week, and instead of sitting on the porch smoking my life away, i took the family to the movies. Got out of the heat, rewarded myself and made a new tradition all at once. Marie, There are smoking 'triggers'. We all have them and we are deeling with the day to day ones right now. Everytime you do something without a cigarette when you used to smoke while doing it, you are retraining your mind and memories. There was jsut someoen in this group that started again after a year and four months. She got into a situation where she used to smoke, and hadn't ever been in that situation since she quit, and she just smoked automatically. Had she stopped it and retrained her memories and thoughts to do that situation without a cigarette, she'd still be smoke free. So, they aren't really craves.. as much as they are unresolved issues. You have to stay on your toes and look out for them so you don't fall, but they don't like attach you and threaten to slash your throat if you don't smoke. LOL

Hi Shevie, I'm glad that you love music so much!!! You can be proud of yourself. I'm glad to see that you know that every event is linked with a cigaret. As long as you see that you're on the good way. Marie, when I was at Week 1-3 I would be terrified when I read about old timers still having craves. I would start thinking 'What is the point of quitting, if I am still going to be craving in a year?'. That is the fear inside of you talking. That is junkie thinking making you question your quit. Do not fall for it. Do not let what happens to others scare you. While there are a lot of things you may have in common with other quitters, I have learned that there are a lot of things that you will not have in common. We are all unique ... like everyone else. ;p heh! I do not consider myself an addict like many other here do. Me right? Them wrong? Them wrong? Me right? No ... just different ways of thinking. For me in my mind I think like this: An addict uses. I don't use. I am a Non-Smoker. Non-Smokers don't smoke. In my opinion what we tell our subconscious is very, very important. What we tell ourselves we are, what we believe ... is what we become. I do not have craves to smoke a cigarette & I am not even at my 6 month milestone. Do I have memories of smoking? Occasionally I do, like the other day I was washing the kids and then decided to let them play in the tub for a bit. So my 11 year went in the and I went to go and put the clothes from the washer to the dryer. In the past if I let the kids play in the tub a for a bit, I'd go smoke a cigarette. So as I was walking out of the bathroom and my mind thought 'time to go smoke a cig'. And I laughed at my subconscious and told it 'not anymore, I'm a happy non-smoker now'. And poof the thought was gone and I was busy making a non-smoking memory on top of a smoking memory. I doubt the next time I let the kids play in the tub that I will even have the old smoking memory pop into my head. If a horrible crave ever does hit, I will be prepared because I have read about it happening here. Since I have read and I know that I have a place to come for support ... I know that it can be beat and that it will pass. Rejoice in that knowledge ... don't let it scare you Marie. (((hugs))) So for every story that says one thing, I can show you a story that says the opposite. You are you, Marie. Your quit is yours. You steer your destiny. No one else. We'll always be here for support
