Just lost..

Yes you are right...I never realized how much time I spent smoking. I did not realize it till you posted that!!! I smoked outside.. now I just go out there and sit and BREATH. When the weather cools off here I will go for more walks. I have always been active even as a smoker cannot wait to see how my jogging improves. I got my quit meter set up too!

I know excatly how you feel Trish. I'm on day three and it is getting better. I went out and got new shoes to walk in during my lunch hour. I got new markers and some of those fuzzy pictures to color. I think that when you start to find new things to do you won't feel so lost. Silly putty is great for when you are stuck in traffic and a little slinky is great for sitting at your computer all day. I guess you could say I'm a kid at heart since I've replaced my cig with toys :)Hang in there and remember we are all going through the same feelings on some degree. hi Trish, you should set your meter this helps also. I don't know how many you smoked a day but say you spent 10 min 20 times a day that,s over 3hrs that you were busy smoking, now you have to fill that time with something else. Pamper yourself take long bubble baths, go for a walk, do your nails whatever makes you happy to fill that time and you will feel better. You're doing great day 2 and on with the quit. You can do it one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,073 Amount Saved: $284 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 10 Mins: 28 Seconds: 56

Trish, It will fade when you replace it with something you love even more. Do you have a reward system? This will also help as it will give you something to look forward to and work towards. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please leave us a detailed message in our feedback section and we will be more than happy to assist you. Congratulations on your first smoke free day! We are proud of you! Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Trish - It's hard at first because we do have all this free time - WOW! In the first few weeks of my quit my house was squeaky clean! I drove my kids nuts! LOL!! Keep busy - call old friends to reconnect...plan outings in smoke free places...I love the idea of new toys! Toys are fun! I got a Vespa because you can't smoke and ride a scooter at the same time... There are some friends that I couldn't hang with at first because they smoked...they still smoke but I am stronger than that ol nic demon and can reconnect - it just takes some time. Go to the library and check out some books that you have been meaning to read for a while - and most of all, come here and post and read...the help is tremendous! Keep Strong! Trish. I remember that lost feeling. Quitting smoking to me was like losing my best friend. My greatest companion. In time, you will come to realize that smoking just wasn't worth it. I didn't realize until I quit that smoking controlled everything that I did. Today, I am free of the enslavement of smoking. Keep taking one step at a time and you will make it. Just don't smoke. Every day is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Noone can tell youe exactly when you will not feel lost. But at some point, you will not only NOT feel lost, you will know that you have FOUND the joy of freedom from this addiction. Of course, you feel awful today. Who wouldn't feel awful when they are in withdrawal from the most powerful addiction there is. And I know, how hard it is to believe the words from the mouths of strangers. You need to have blind faith in those who went before you, that this really does pass and it really is worth it. Stay as close to this site as you can. Post and read as often as possible. Drink lots of water. Take VERY good care of yourself. During week one, pamper yourself, reward yourself, and protect this quit with every ounce of energy you have. Rusty's posts on Day One, Day Two, and Day Three are excellent. Read them. Copy them. Start a notebook. Carry it with you. Re-read them. We have all been there and done that. We understand. Just don't smoke. Hang in there and best wishes, Trish.
