breaking free You are not the only one. I just got off the phone w/ a friend repeating everything you just typed. I thought maybe a should go to AAA treatment facility and stay for a couple of months.. I have to get over this anger, bad attitude, wanting to cry or scream at my children.. I am taking naps I am drinking water I am chewing gum I am keeping myself buzy The normal side of me knows that I can breath now and I could not before i quit.. These feelings have to end.. so many people have quit and they look and act normal..??? Ramble .... Vent .... I just want to scream! I'm irritated. Over everything it seems. I'm angry that after 3 weeks I still think about smoking. That no matter how great my attitude is ... I still think about it. I'm not going to smoke. I know I am not going to smoke. So why? WHY? I'm pissed off at myself for ever smoking that first cigarette and doing this to myself. I'm irritated by positive posts that I read. Why? I don't know ... probably because I've been positive ... and guess what ... 20 some days later ... the thought is still there. I can't be busy twenty four seven. I can't relax 24/7 either. I don't even know what I am feeling. I feel like I am going crazy. I feel like I am loosing myself. like I am loosing my flippin' mind. I can't think straight, I can't concentrate. All I know is that I am not going to smoke. But the rest of my mental life is falling apart it seems because I feel like a basket case. I do not like anyone or myself right now it seems or maybe it is just me feeling really *****y ... ugh how I hate that. I'm trying to read other's posts to see if anyone has ever felt as crazy or lost as I am feeling right now ... and I can't find one. I am not scared that I will pick up a smoke. I am scared of how I feel. I am not happy. What am I thinking? that is causing me to be unhappy. I try to think to rationalize to analyze myself ... which I normally can but I can't even concentrate. I am thinking that people really don't give a ****. That hurts ... that pain turns to anger. That is how I am feeling and why. But I know it is not true. But I am thinking irrationally anyway. This is driving me bonkers. And I can't stand feeling angry ... which makes me more angry. Please someone tell me they have felt like this. My father says go run. I don't WANT TO GO RUN!!!!!!!!! I don't flippin' feel like it. I just want to climb into bed and sleep forever ... but I can't let myself fall into a pit of depression. I'm trying to fight this mental war. It is pissing me off ... this is NOT ME!!! I am not a negative person. This is just throwing me into a cycle that is going round and round and round. I've got to yank myself off of this merry go round before I loose my mind! My Milage: My Quit Date:

Breaking, Don't be annoyed with yourself for thinking about smoking!!! You smoked everyday for a long time. You will think about smoking and that's okay! That is why we are all here. I had my days where I hated my BF, my boss, basically anyone who crossed my path and I tell you, I am a little worried because I still have not PMSed yet but I will be very soon!! Is it possible you are PMSing too? Remember, PMS and quitting smoking is a lethal combination. Talk about insanity! LOL I will be PMSing in about 4 days. Everyone, mark your calendars! I will be here and I will be a bee-yatch. So, be prepared. So, breaking, scream, shout, break things.... I know what you mean when you get advice from someone to go workout when you feel like crap lol... your dad is giving you good advice. I felt better after I walked 5 miles yesterday. I mean, I was so tired that I did not even have the energy to scream if I wanted to! LOL exhaust yourself!!! :) So, we are here, and vent away. I enjoy reading your vents. They are very authentic. lol Mira :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 448 Amount Saved: $77 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 26 Seconds: 32

Hi BreakingFree, I'm sure you're feeling better today! You say 'My father says go run. I don't WANT TO GO RUN!!!!!!!!! ' I know that feeling, where you feel that down that exercise is the last thing on your mind. But, as Shevie says here, exercise will help, even if you don't want to do it. So next time you feel like that, DO IT, despite yourself. And if I see a similar email from you in future, I promise to reply as follows: GO OUT AND *&%$"!!! RUN, BREAKING FREE - YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE!!! OK with you? Hi Breaking Free: Everybody here has had a little bit of that - In my car on the way home is when I let all this garbage stuff loose. Other drivers probably think I am completely crazy - hopefully they just think I have one of those cell phone adapter thingees on my ear! But I like to yell about whatever has been buggin me - and believe me some days it's everything that bugs me! You know the country song by George Strait "I Hate Everything" it can be true a lot of days for us quitters. You gotta take the good with the bad. Sometimes it just seems like there is more bad than good. Last week was one of those DOG WEEKS -- "It's all fetching and no pats on the head" for me. This week is better. I hope you are feeling better, you're doing fabulous on your quit! Breaking Free - Well as you can see, you are not alone... Do some searches here on the site and you will find MANY posts that resemble your words, feelings, emotions, all of it. It's awful, it's frustrating, the anger is intense, the feeling of stuck can be paralyzing... There were days I just crawled into bed and pulled the covers over my head. I cried into my Rhodesian Ridgeback's hair as I hung on to her and just let it all out. Coping skills. Build your toolbox of coping skills, one at a time. Let the feelings out, yell, scream, throw a dish, punch a pillow, journal it all... One thing that helps me when I get lost in all of this mess is to find something I can really, really distract myself in... Paint a wall, clean the grout in the bathtub!! ANYTHING. Get lost in something, and stay there until it's time to come back to your life. And most of all, be gentle w/yourself, Breaking Free. This is one hell of a journey, you need compassion from yourself. What a wonderful opportunity to love yourself and be kind to yourself and to learn to care for yourself in the roughest times... Hold tight, and vent - we are all here for you. You can do this AND YOU ARE NOT ALONE... WoW You speak as if from my mind. I came here and used a book now part of a big binder and wrote it out, here is the link to the first string of posts that I wrote here.Riverdale Man the Quit and all the Stories Dig in find some way to get through the feelings and the stuff that is going through your mind. Each and every thing that happens to you will pass, change becomes the next moment. Just do not smoke because that is going back, keep moving foreard, keep BREAKING FREE. The most important (for me) piece in the whole thing has been to apply, give, maintain a rewards program that is beyond anything your mind can dream up. Make sure you never feel deprived, hungry for something, let yourself be full and know that you are number one you deserve to be treated with love care and respect. All of this will pass. It really does change. Keep on posting and letting us know how you are doing. Peace Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 109 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,187 Amount Saved: $817.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 19 Mins: 43 Seconds: 59
