Emotionally upset

Hi Jdtigg I know where you are coming from. I go through the same, just think this THE MIND CAN PLAY TRICKS!!!! It will do everything possible to get you to spark up the weed again.. but its a trick. Just get distracted, by whatever (I just went to ASDA supermarket, to purchase some nice things, a good book and magazines) for a reward. I feel better now i have had my reward. But I do know what you mean it is like i go insane - and i have thought is it all worth it? AND I then go back and then (like now) i have to quit all over again. Dont do that to yourself, keep going, otehrwise you have to go through those early days all over again, and they arent the best days in the world. I hope this depression and fighting with myself is part of the whole breakdown system. I am wondering if this is worth it in the end. I mean come on, I am totally bugging out right now, nerves on fire, concentration almost nil. I am trying to do my work and I expended so much energy to resolve this one problem. All I am hoping is that there is a light at the end of this tunnel, because right now, physically and emotionally not seeing crap. My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 154 Amount Saved: $31.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 32 Seconds: 9

Jdtigg - Day 7 was my worst day by FAR. I posted and read all day, slept as long as I could, and swore that long term depression was setting in. I did not think I would make it - couldn't even concentrate long enough to read a newspaper article, and couldn't motivate to do busy things to make the time pass. Guess what.. IT PASSED. The minutes ticked by and the day was over (not soon enough believe me). but I woke up the next day and cried I was so happy to have not given in. I don't pretend to think the hard part is over, but I know it couldn't possibly get any WORSE than that, and if I made it through I know you can too. Stay close to the site, keep posting and reading, and if you aren't drinking water, definitely start. (seltzer was the best thing for me). Jdtigg, just close your eyes and BREATHE....cravings always pass but doubt is harder...don't allow yourself to doubt your decision and the tension will go. We're all with you 100% of the way. Rewards are an important part of the Quit. In the past you rewarded yourself with a negative ... a cigarette. The rewards re-train your brain. Now you reward youself with a positive thus re-enforcing your quit. J Congrats on one week smoke free! That is an great accomplishment. You've save over $30. What's your reward going to be? * Be gentle with yourself ... smoking for many years ... the effects don't just disappear overnight. Take solace in the fact that this all will pass. Understand it takes time to get better ... be patient with yourself.
