Trapped!

18 years ago 0 18 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Where I live 2 miners are trapped 1 mile underground. They've been there for 6 days now. Rescuers hope to have them out by Saturday (can you imagine being trapped in total darkness another 3 days!!) They were found alive on day 4 and a pipe was drilled through rock to slide some food and water to the men. Today I'm on day 2 of not smoking. Thinking of how those guys are deprived even of light has kept me on track today. I've had a few moments of feeling desperate for a cigarette, plus i've now got a sore throat and dizziness. My quit meter is a day behind because of the time zone difference, but I'm feeling every moment of the 2 day smoke-free experience! Thanks for all the support Cass

Hi Cass! Keep it up. You are doing AWESOME!! I just wanted to let you know I also had the sore-throat action going on for a while. I'm currently on Day 9 and the sore throat let up for me around 7-8. It was never bad, just kinda irritating. Especially in the mornings. Keep up the quit! Cass, Do whatever you have to do to get thru the next few days. If your quit is like most you're in the worst part now and it will last for a couple more days before it starts to ease up. The good news is that it really does get easier. The thoughts may stay with you for a while but the intensity of the craves will start to lessen after the first week. Take it one minute or five minutes or one second at a time... whatever you have to do. Visit and read here as often as you can. You'll find lots of support here. Water....lots of water...I know it seems like common sense, but it really does help. Most people don't get anywhere near the amount of water they should drink in a day. It'll help alleviate some of the headaches and make it easier when the crap in your lungs starts breaking up.

Cass.. Take some deep breaths and drink a lot of water. Anxiety is one of the withdrawal things I went through. Deep breaths, stretching and finding something to occupy my mind and my hands was always helpful. Keep telling yourself what an awesome job you are doing. You are half way through hell week! You are doing it. 3 days is AWESOME! You have been trapped, by smoking. For years like the rest of us I'm sure. Don't be trapped anymore. Break free of the enslavement that smoking brings. You are going to love being a non smoker. Cass, What a scary event! We hope the miners do indeed make their way out sooner than later. This is the time when our cravings tend to kick in full force. Stress is always a trigger as we quit smoking. Just remember why you have quit smoking and look at the positive aspects you are receiving from your quit! Congratulations on being 2 days quit!
