Ok so the day is almost done...it is 11:08pm. I had a few horrible moments where the craving almost overtook my will to quit, but alas, the keyword is almost. I took a nap and then I did some cleaning. When dinner was over I had another huge craving but that too passed. I take seroquel at night to help me sleep and this pill makes me so hungry for carbs. Between that & not smoking so far since about 8pm I've had a handful of peanut m&m's, a few bites of caesar salad, a handful of grapes & I'm just done with a handful of dry roasted peanuts. I just sent my hubby to the store to get me red licorice. I heard that's good to stack on while trying to quit. It's fat free so I aint gonna worry 'bout that. I did so good drinking water today. It really does help squash the craving. I'm having a medium size craving right now. I can't believe how I just want to go outside and light up. The urge is so strong. I'll be doing something and all of a sudden it hits me like a ton of bricks...I think to myself it's time to go outside to smoke and then I remember....than I have the debate with my alter ego. Of course I win but it's so hard. Like right now, I so want to go outside and smoke just 1. I mean how bad would it be to take one or two puffs? Shut up ME (my ego) It'd be like starting all over wouldn't it? I'd have to start from the very beginning right? Well maybe not cuz It's been over 24 hours so my body doesn't have all that much left in there right so a couple of puffs would barely stay right? Ok ME it's times to go to bed... Day 1 crossed off my calender!

Milaya YOU GO GIRL! LOL you are too funny because I do the same debating thing with myself. I keep having to stop and 'rethink' what I am going to do because my schedule is all screwed up now since my quit. The times I would say 'ok now I'll just sit down and have a quick smoke' (HA! NO SUCH THING AS A QUICK ONE LOL) and figure out what I need from the store. Yeah first thing on list, more smokes. LOL. What a joke. Stupid addiction really works on ya doesn't it??!! Well Milaya HANG IN THERE! I am glad you've got some stuff to snack on-- nuts are great and I love the licorice it really curbs my cravings, though it is wise not to eat too much of that stuff as it is a pretty potent little herb. Have an awesome night and just jump on the boards if you need to vent out! TAKE DEEP BREATHS!! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!! CONGRATS ON YOUR 1ST DAY! :) MANY MANY BLESSINGS!!!!! Dear Milaya, Congratulations on making it through your first day! I bought some really good Starbucks coffee, and celebrated by having a cup (actually 3 cups) on the morning of my second day. I felt the need to reward myself almost daily. Don't listen to your junkie!!!!!! He is the one telling you it is okay to take one puff. And telling you it won't put you back to day 1 becuz you have less nicotene in your blood. If you give in to junkie thinking now, it will be easier to give in later as well. Well maybe after you smoke, just one, you stay quit for another week. Then in that week, you smoke just one. And you stay quit for 4 days. Then you have one more. Then, I promise you, junkie wins. You will be back to smoking. You will wake up one morning, and it will smack you - you are a smoker again!!!!!!!!!!!! Fight junkie thoughts. Do not let the junkie thinking ruin your hard work and determination!!! You have what it takes to win!! Keep reminding yourself that you do not smoke. N.O.P.E. - Not one puff ever. That is how you stay smoke free, hence, becoming an ex-smoker!! Just take one day at a time. Before you know it, you will be in double digits for your days! You can do this!!!!!!!!!! Hi, Milaya. It gets a bit easier each day. Craves are mostly memory triggered; memories of getting up, walking out of a store, getting into your car, break time, last chance before the movie, etc. Every time you get through one of these memory situations you reprogram that memory as a nonsmoking event. Sometimes it may take several passes to completely extinguish the smoking connection, but eventually it will happen. Congratulations on 2 smoke-free days, Milaya. You're doing great. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 327 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,556 Amount Saved: $1242.6 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 2 Mins: 47 Seconds: 19
