unccexsmoker,
I completely understand! I too am going through finals and my favorite time to smoke was when studying as well! It was the only way I used to know how to get through finals. Well, last semester I discovered that it IS possible to study and not smoke! LOL! If you asked me that before then, I would have told you that it just can't be done - well, at least not for someone who used to smoke. Well, I am here to tell you that studying without smoking CAN be done. However, the only way to get through this difficult trigger is to get through it and rely on your strength the next time. Next time you have finals, say to yourself "I did it last time without smoking and I can do it this time too!"
So how do you do it? Well, what I did (and still do) is use twizzler pull n' peels as my cigarette replacement. I "smoke" my licorice (they have virtually the same resistance as a cigarette... it's uncanny!) That seems to help me emmensely with the cravings. I know that studying is a huge trigger, but you can do it! If you smoke this time, it will be MUCH harder to not smoke next time... as I'm sure you're well aware. Just hang in there!
Crave the Quit!
