Hey Gal, I know what that feeling is like also. Im still new in my quit and those thoughts go threw me head all the time. I also think about doing what you just did but every person that has done that they all say the same thing.
Whatever this horrible feeling I had was, didn't get better with the cigs, and it didn't help. I knew it wouldn't
So gal get back up on that horse and start again. Just stay strong and tell yourself you can do this and that it doesn't get better. Its hard for me everyday to drive past the gas station. I don't even like stopping for gas. I'm glad you were able to get it out of your system and get back to the quit. Don't be so hard on yourself. The important thing is that you stopped yourself and you're ready to move forward again. It sounds to me like you're on the right track. Take care! Sorry Gal:
I just walked in and did it without thinking, just before going to work.
That was really dumb. You most certainly did think about it. I told my hubby about my slip this morning. He is awesome!! Said he wasn't going to throw me away yet. He is my best support ever.. I feel better now that he knows also and I am back in the saddle. I plan to leave my meter alone as I need those days of not smoking and it will help me keep on tract. As other have it is a personal choice and I don't judge others by their meters. :) Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I really needed all the good words. I plan to get back on the horse and stay there. This DUMB (Rob-doesn't even begin to describe what I did) thing I did just reinforced my desire to quit and stay quit as butterfly put it made me realize how much I don't want to smoke. So here I go, and I promise to ask for help more often if I need it.

I am feeling pretty down right now. After 60 + days I went out and bought a pack. I never even thought of buying a pack before today, I just walked in and did it without thinking, just before going to work. Smoked a couple this afternoon and a few tonight and threw the rest away...All this time I have been able to get past the craving, the thoughts and anything else thrown at me. I used the patch for 6 weeks, had to step down faster at the end because I was getting real bad reactions to the adhesive. Been off for 3 weeks. I have made it through bad days of depression late in this quit. The beginning of my quit was fairly easy. Now it is just getting to me. I just had to do this and get it out of my system. Not sure why... I do not plan to keep smoking again. I know I can't. Whatever this horrible feeling I had was, didn't get better with the cigs, and it didn't help. I knew it wouldn't and I couldn't get here to read and post when it got to me.. I did so well and everyone so proud of me and my hubby so supportive, even during the crying spells. He said you smoked 35 years, don't expect it all to get better in 60 days. Give it time. I couldn't have gotten this far without him. He is at a class and I will have to tell him when he gets home what I did... In the 35 years I have smoked I never made it more than 2 hours, this is my first real attempt at quitting this monstrous habit, so I am proud of what I have accomplished, as I have never tried this hard before. just not too happy right now, but in a way, glad I did this, I had to get it out of my system. I will be sitting here awaiting any spankings you all want to dish out!! Thanks for letting me vent!!!

Hi Gal, As Josie said we are not her to judge you, we are her to support and love you, and try to get you back on the journey again. I believe you want to do that. I'm so sorry that you had to go off the patch so soon. I was lucky and wore it the 10 full weeks. But I did notice I had cravings after I took it off. But I know it was nothing like the HELL WEEK I hear people talk about. Stay close to the site and we will help you, just keep posting and reading. You know what too do, you have been here over 60 days. I had a horrid time last week end, and that was close to 100 days, so see you still have to fight no matter what day you are on. Stay strong and know that we are thinking of you.... Blessings sent your way, SUNSHINE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,767 Amount Saved: $360.5 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 22 Mins: 55 Seconds: 9

Hi Gal, You've gotten great words and advice here. I really can't add much except to say I'm proud of you for coming here to tell us and hopping back in the quit saddle so quickly. So onward and upward for you!!! redrosie

Galfriday, We don't dish out spankings around here. We dish out support. You are not alone. A lot of people slip and most don't come back afterwards. I remember the 60 day mark and it was really hard. I wouldn't have made it through it if it hadn't been for this site. The people here have pulled me through a billion craves and bouts of depression that I didn't think I would ever get through. You are no different than anyone else here. We are all addicts and we are all one puff away from losing our quits at any given moment. Everyone has those "just one" thoughts. I know I still do. In time these thoughts get fewer and fewer but they still come up. The question you have to ask yourself is have you learned from this? Are you ready to be quit forever now? Are you ready to begin fighting again? I know you said you got rid of the cigarettes, that is a step in the right direction. Remember you still have addictive thinking and now that you have given in you are going to have to fight twice as hard for your quit. That isn't saying that it can't be done. There are people all over this board who have slipped, gone back to smoking, and then come back to quit for good. You can do it. Just be prepared for the Junkie in you to be working overtime. Pick yourself up and brush yourself off. We are here to help you not hurt you. Post when you need help. That is why we stick around. Get back on that road to freedom. It is an awesome feeling once you reach the other side of the quit rainbow. You wouldn't want to miss it. Chin up, best foot forward.... here we go. BTW You did have 60 days....You know what it feels like. Get that feeling of pride back. You worked hard. Don't throw it all away. Gal, Sometimes, we have to smoke to realize how much we don't want to do it anymore. If that's the case for you, then let this be the one and only time so that you can get back to your quit. Now that you know that smoking doesn't solve anything, you can rest assured that the quit is the right thing. I hope that you will look at what happened and make a plan for what you will do next time. A slip can be an eye-opening event if you use it properly. So try to figure out what happened so you can be stronger next time. None of us are here to judge you. We just want to see you quit successfully. I really hope that you will get back up and get back to your quit. Stay strong! You can do this! Crave the Quit!
