Ron, Hang in there. You are doing fantastic at 21 days smoke-free. Don't give up now. You have too much invested. Take Care, Melanie _____________________ The SSC Support Team

hello Thought I would let you know that my QUIT date is a week away and I am already in withdrawal. Does that tell you anything? This will be my 5th quit. The last one was 18 months ago. I really did quit and at the 4 month stage was completely comfortable. I got stupid and thought I could just have the odd one and now I am back to square 1. I have smoked for 40 years and it has done nothing for me. Now I am in a situation where I find life revolves around my habit. My family and friends don't visit because I smoke and my best friend is uncomfortable around me. All of the symptoms you describe are normal and VERY uncomfortable but believe me you won't die. Life does get better..MUCH better and you will find that your smoking buddies will be very jealous. I believe that withdrawal symptoms last one day for every year you smoked. Not a bad price to pay. Keep going strong. Kick out at the weed. Get angry at that voice in your head. It's telling you lies. Love from a fellow traveller.

Oh Ron, please don't give up now. You know that you're feeling like this because of the nicotine addiction. I too am waking up several times during the night but I know it won't last forever. When I feel anxious or freaked out I take some deep breaths and close my eyes and remember that I'm choosing not to let ciagettes be a part of my life. Please read, read , read and stay connected to us, we're all pulling for you. Here's a hug :p, Trudy My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $38.87 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 34 Seconds: 39

Ron, please, if not for yourself, just for me. the last days your little notes saved me, really. It would be a lie of me telling that it would be better, because i just feel the misery of it but still - I know, rationally - there is no other way that it gets better, only your system is very addicted, just like the mine, if you do not feel comfortable it is all right, feel the misery that is ok i made a lot's of discoveries of myself and do the breathing exercise, if you do it 5 minutes at least it takes away your craving the taste, the joy comes unexpected, like the craving you cannot order "please come some taste to me" it comes, when you do not hope for it, or wait for it but be ready,be there, to realize it::))) please Parola My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/28/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 113 Amount Saved: $32.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 28 Seconds: 2

I've tried, and tried, and thanks to you all I've been almost 3 weeks smoke free. I've spent lots of time here, reading posts... trying to help people dealing with the stress all of us are feeling from quitting smoking. Everyone has different problems it seems when trying to break this dirty habit. But the side effects I'm having from not smoking has me, and the Junkie in me, saying it's not worth it. I don't sleep well at night because of all the bad dreams... (I could spend hours writing about them alone), I get tingles in my legs and sometimes arms, Food tastes worse now than before I quit, I'm packing pounds on like a Pig, and my "Happy go Lucky" attitude is going downhill real fast. I keep trying to tell myself it's all worth it, but the lack of sleep and headaches I'm getting is telling my body that I had better get back to Cigs. Sleeping 4 hours or so at night and trying to take a hour nap here or there is O.K. for a day or two, I don't seem to be able to do three weeks of it though. I really want to quit, and my actual cravings for a smoke isn't that bad... it's manageable anyway. And if I knew tonight I would sleep semi-well, It would all be worth it. Or if my food or drink at Supper tonight tastes pretty good, that would be a start as well. ANYTHING to show me that this is worth it... any sign at all would make me think different. But I haven't seen those signs as of yet... :( Take care Everyone, Ron My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 748 Amount Saved: $141.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 7 Mins: 35 Seconds: 1

Good morning everyone. I'm back here... after another 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Thanks to you all on the post's I received. A special Thank You to my IM friends. I am very sorry I turned so whimpy. As a fireman I've seen Plane crashes, Car wrecks, House fires with children in them... I've worked high pressure jobs... I am a strong person! The lack of sleep is taking it's toll on me. I guess I expected three weeks into my quit that I'd be seeing so many positive things. Other than the dollars saved... It seems like too many things hitting me at the same time. Lack of sleep, dizzeyness, loss of taste, tingles, etc. It's gotta stop soon... I hope. I am still at N.O.P.E.!! Take care all, Ron My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 783 Amount Saved: $148.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 9 Seconds: 56

Hey everybody, Again thanks for all the support you have given me. It's almost funny when you think about how this group is so close, yet we hardly know each other. The bond between us trying to overcome this problem together is so strong. And I am so happy to call each and everyone of you my friend! And after another 4 hour night of sleep, I can tell you that it is very hard trying to tell myself that it is worth it. But as I read everyone of these post's over and over, I know that I am not alone. So although my head hurts from the lack of sleep, I get dizzy spells, food tastes yucky, and my body feels like a pin cushion at times, with you all pulling for me, how can I lose... right? ~~~BIG Hug to you all~~~ Ron N.O.P.E. My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 817 Amount Saved: $155.25 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 14 Mins: 51 Seconds: 27
