AND BTW Ron Twenty one das is a major accomplishment. You have done an amazing job of keeping your quit, and supporting others. Take a look at some of the other posts from the past and you will ee that others that were at 21 days have had very similar feelings to what you are going through in this moment. It is all about choice! Ron It does get better. I know for me that it is only in moments. Chicken says it very well it is a choice. You get to choose to not smoke or to smoke. You know both sides of the equation. One side is death the other side is life, one side is numbness and not feeling and the otherside is feeling. You get to choose. When you do choose you know the drill. It really is one foot in front of the other and taking everything one moment at a time. All, every action depending on your choice in the moment. Smoking will not really change any of this. You will still have to make choices, after some more years the choices will be if you go out with an oxygen tank or if you stay in your chair with a puffer close at hand. It is all up to you. Hey Ron!!! It is worth it. Yes I know how you are feeling! I am a very happy go lucky person myself and I really thought at one point that smoking was going to take me back to that person. Well, I soon realized that I CHOOSE to be happy, or sad, or mad, or anything else. Yes it may come on and it seems as though I can't help it but I can! When things get rough you can either let them bring you down or you can fight with everything inside of you to stay on top of the situation! This is a very difficult addiction to beat and 3 weeks is AWESOME and you really wouldn't want to go through this again. This passes I promise. I hit rock bottem around the same time in my quit and thought it was gonna kill me but I survived. My actual cravings for a smoke wasn't bad either, I mean they came and went of course but I knew I wouldn't lite one up. This is a mental thing now and you need to take back control of your mind. Easier said then done, I know, but it's really positive thinking and perserverance(?) that's gonna help you come out on top! You will make it through this if you keep mind control!! Do not let that Junkie win. You can do this!!! You are doing spectacular in your quit and you would hate yourself to smoke one right now!! Keep your head up and trudge forward. I am sure your tired of hearing it, but, it DOES GET BETTER!!! Keep a positive outlook!!! Take back control of your mind, body, and soul! Ron, just think about what you are saying, what you are saying is that smoking is actually better for you health wise than not smoking. You know and I know that this cannot be right, it is a tough journey we are on and we do doubt at some stage whether it is all worth it, well I think it is. Just think about it carefully Ron, going back to smoking will make you stink like an ashtray, burns a hole in your pocket, inceases your chances enormously of having serious health problems and reduces your life expectancy. That does not seem like a wise decision to me! You have done fantastically well to get through 3 weeks and you should be really proud of yourself. Get that positive attitude back and tough it out, it will get better and you will see and get to the end of that tunnel. I can tell you that once you get there you will feel like a million dollars. Don't forget you probably smoked for many years and you won't kick the habit in just a few weeks, unfortunately it takes time. Please do not give in Ron, you owe it to yourself to conquer this addiction. Keep with us my friend. Ron... Whatever you are going through now will pass.. See a doctor for help with sleeping right now if necessary. The side effects of cancer are : shingles, unable to sleep because of severe pain, frequent hospital visits, suregery, chemotherapy, hair loss, vomiting, weakness, normal body functions are messed up including ability to urinate and void, and perhaps, death. You will loss weigh though. The side effects of emphysema are ... The side effects in particular of throat cancer are ... Nicodemon is once again telling you that the side effects of smoking are not as bad as cancer or emphysema. TOLD YOU HE IS A LIAR... DON'T LISTEN TO HIM !!!! You have a great quit going.. get medical help if you need to but don't be fooled.. you need to stay quit ... Hang in there. Everytime I think of giving up, I just think of what that woman wrote in this forum about "I'm one puff away from 2-packs a day"..........and I know she is right and I don't want to be back to that 2 pack a day habit! Try and see if that line will help you when you think of giving up. It helps me:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,181 Amount Saved: $495 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 8 Mins: 22 Seconds: 45

Hey Ron, If you could transport yourself into the future to a year from today you would see: That you have accomplished something thousands of people all over the world would love to be able to do. Check in to the SCC and see your quit meter at nearly 400 days. But best of all to feel proud that you hung on in there through the tough times and know that it was worth it. When i read your post i just wished that there was something i could do to make it better, please dont give up you have done too much to throw it all away. Ron, Everyone has already said it - but I think it's worth hanging in there. I wrote something similiar at about 6 weeks in. Just wanted to smoke as I was much happier then. To be honest I'm still not 100% but the cravings do die down and I just think of myself as a ex-smoker now. 3 weeks is alot to give up. Stopping smoking is a long haul - but there are people who can make it.... Keep the stiff upper lip old boy!!
