Getting Older

14 years ago 0 199 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Ashley,

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.  I did do some walking in a pool 2 wks ago and that really helped but I have not been going lately, its been pretty cold here.  I did go and walk at the indoor mall yesterday and that was ok.  The walking surface is level which is good but there are so many people and it is very noisy. It just makes me want to scream and my nervous system can't take it.  I do have a lake I can go walk at thats pretty level.
I quit smoking for 35 days a year and half ago and that helped with my breathing but I relapsed due to some family issues.  I have quit for short periods of time over the last 2 yrs and have put on 35 lbs which is also causing me health problems.  I would like to quit again this time for good.  I can not afford to gain any more weight on a failed attempt. I really need to get a handle on my emotions so that I can succeed on my next attempt and make it my last attempt.  Do you have any suggestions on how to do this?   The other issue is I have a hard time getting myself to leave the house which isn't helping me any.  Do you have ideas on how to over come this?    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
I want to thank everyone for their help and support in advance...

Hi Red,

I am sorry you are having a depressing day Red.  Not being able to do what you want, when you want would be very frustrating. I am hearing you find it to be depressing and that is completely understandable.  From what I know about depression and hypertension it is still a good idea to try to do some mild exercise.  Perhaps mild walking and pool exercises? Be sure you give yourself a lot of time to cool down.  Also, talk to your doctor before making any exercise routines.  You could also ask him about possible exercise suggestions and how you could monitor your bloor pressure while you are exercising.

Sometimes just getting moving a little helps.  Do you think there is any small things you could do around the house that will help?

I find that as I am getting older I can not do things I used to.  I was very physical when I was younger always exercising, really very physical.  As I have grown older I have had to slow down. I now have exercise hyper tension which affects my ability to do what I want to and some other health issues.  No more walking up hills or grades or the like etc for me the Dr. said. I really tire easily. This growing older and looking older is very hard for me to accept and it gets very depressing. Is this something that all older people have to look forward to and deal with?  How do I accept it?  I find it very tiring and depressing to get up in the morning.  I am  really tired of getting old.  I wonder why I am still here anyway?  I guess this is going to be one of my depressing days today and I am sick of it.
