Going to my first actual face to face peer support program tonight. Have to admit I am a little nervous. Told my wife not to let me duck out of it, like I did last time. When i was in the hospital I found these to be one of the most helpful things, but when I got out, I just couldn't seem to get myself to go. Not sure why? Hopefully this is a step forward and will get me working on the program too. Just seeming to have a tough time getting started this time.

Hi Everyone,

It's nice of everyone to weigh in.  Rose, you seem like you are feeling better, I like your gift ideas - you can't go wrong with the needed items.  I also like the fact that you have identified some very good things about you.  Keep holding to them.

I'd like to say more but tonight I have a migraine and am not able to collect my thoughts very readily.  It's been a long day and I'm not fairing so well because of it.  My co-worker's father fell ill over the weekend and his condition is not good.
(I really don't believe he is going to pull through)  She is very close to him and is not doing well emotionally.  This is the same friend that I earlier wrote about how positive she is about things.  I don't know how she is going to deal with this however.  She has more experience in the area I am working in now, so she was not there to defer my questions to.  It went well but stressful nonetheless.  So... I'm sorry that I'm not real with the conversation tonight.

brenna, perhaps that is why there is always a group hanging around here...

It is because we each know and understand that part of our illness means that days are going to really rough and the gang will be here to help us challenge the negative thought, will help us identify the core value and help us change, and on one is high and mighty ... those that have experience lead by example so if they have done so can I.

thanks wildcat  i don't buy trinkets, i look at christmas presents as replenishment - socks, robes, calendars, picture frames, pepperment tea (all the kids got a pound). i have fun wrapping them because i am a little  and will put a small item in a bigger box, then a bigger box and wrap it all up in duct tape. i think christmas will become really fun again when there is a grandchild - can't wait!
mom of 3 - smart, caring, educated, not giving up, a survivor! the glue that keeps these forums moving along - we need you!

hi gang.
I have been stuck on a lonely rock ... but i'll put that in another post.

I just wanted to say that i am sad that I missed such a good discussion!!!   At this time of the year with two major religions celebrating, the other 2/3 of the population just gets the commercialism rammed down the thoat!  A moment of the year when the northern hemisphere is preparing for the great-cocooning of winter (I hate the cold and will look for any reason to ignore it) and the economy has decided it is the last chance to stuff trinkets into our homes.

Cocooning, nesting ... it is the a bit the time of the northern year where we need to slow down conserve resources turn inward.  And it is great it have a varity of ideas to express and share.  I love rose's voice that is truely bare; only a few lines says it all!!!  She is conservative with her words and real down to earth with her ideas.  MO3 is really great at summerizing whole discussions and putting her finger on the point.  She has a wide experience and gently ruffles feathers every once in a while like a breeze.

So Ralph, I am really happy that you have had the courage to wade into these deep waters.  It is nice to dig deep sometimes and see what core beliefs hold me! up and express them to the group.  Thank you for the opportunity  I appreciate it.

Hi Rose,

I must admit I wasn't sure you were going to respond.  So many times I read your words and they always beat up on you.  It makes me sad.  Please know that I went away for awhile because of me.  I had become such a wreck that I wasn't sure how you all could stand to read my posts - I couldn't.

Your questions and responses would always make me think about things in ways that didn't occur to me.  This was good but mixed in with all the other advice and questions I began to over load and wasn't able to process right.  I began to panic - I stopped processing just began to overload on my thoughts. I do this because I want everything to change at once. I want to make everything right.  I hyper myself into a whiny mess that doesn't really get anywhere. It was purely me and I had to calm down.

You might be a little like me in that you are always sure you have messed up and will continue to do so.  You are waaaaayyy too hard on yourself.  I hope you'll read some of your posts to me where you tell me that I'm hard on myself and to stop it.  You were right, but now I'm going to tell you the same - stop it!!!  Let's hear (read) the good things about Rose.  I'll start you off - Rose is always one of the first people to respond and encourage others, even if she isn't feeling up herself.  She goes out of her way to help everyone.  Your turn Rose....
