Day 1 and I am going to need some patches for this.

smoked1 They work...but the new Chantix med is better/Dr has to prescribe though. You won't have cravings like with other things. Chantix doesn't put nicotine in your system either. The patches still put nicotine into your system, and when you quit, you will have withdrawal and cravings. auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 685 Amount Saved: $68.18 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Seconds: 31

Somebody call 911 --- i want a smoke!!!

Bananas Contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel better. PMS: Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex England) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from he

NRT or no NRT?

To Phil and All... I want to put my 2 cents in here too.. I quit for 10 yrs...cold-turkey...the hardest way to quit...period I decided to quit again around 2001 using various methods: I used patches, and quit using them because they made me smell like urine and I was embarassed to go to work wearing them. The patches also kept me awake at night. I had to take them off before I went to bed. I was not successful using the patches. Zyban gave me a headache. Wellbutrin was a little better, but even with it I was having dreams and my sleep was interrupted. 2006 December.. After some coaxing by my daughter, I decided to use Chantix...and I am not sorry. I've never used anything like it. I can't believe the restful sleep I am getting. I am having dreams, but they are the good ones that you need to go into REM. I wake up feeling like I've had 8 hrs or more. It's cheaper than using the patches (for me). Depending on your insurance or pay scale plans in your community resources, the cost can vary...the normal price for it is approximately $130 for a months supply (it cost me $85. I used to buy cheap cigaretts ($19 a carton)and smoked 15 packs...a week (carton 1/2)...about $30 a week on smokes....X 4 weeks...= $120 a month The thing about the patches that concerned me was the idea that I wasn't really giving up the nicotine...and just how long would I have to use them before I would no longer recognize the habit...(how much would that cost...a box of patches is like almost $50 right?) Now Phil, you say you're having withdrawal symptoms even though you used the patches for how long...4-months? If you still have to struggle...I suggest you get the Chantix.. By the way...if anything negative comes from the Chantix...I will be the first to post on it. My follow-up date with the Dr. on the Chantix is Friday this week (my last week for the first months rx) Anybody else out there have some imput on the Chantix...been taking it for longer than a month...????? They recommend you take it for 12 weeks. hanging tuff...auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 685 Amount Saved: $68.18 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Secon

any tips ?

Hi Izzy, Make sure you eat "before" you take the Chantix. Try some Soda crackers for the nausea, and take deep breaths. (baking soda helps to neutalize acid) keep in touch...let us know if the nausea subsides, if it doesn't call the Dr... I too agree that it is the best product I've ever used in minimizing craves and it helps with the nerves too. auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 680 Amount Saved: $68.18 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 49 Seconds: 43

January 1st quitters, we have 2 weeks today.

Amen...Congrats to everyone as we go into our 3rd week.... (won't be long it will be a month) I have a couple of Aunts...that are absolutely delighted...but I detect a note of disbelievment in their tones...like they don't think I can do it. (I was a chain smoker...bad!!) :( It's Ok...though...I can see their skepticism...! A toast to 2007 and us "Non-smokers" auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 682 Amount Saved: $68.18 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 54 Seconds: 46

007 Quit! How are you all doing? Check in, say hi, update :)

Hi Friends..***auntdeb here checking in with the 2007 Quitters**** I'm having less and less craving as the weeks are starting to mount up. Last week seemed a little more for some reason, but looking at my own words as I tried to advise others...breathe, breathe, breathe...it will pass and it does. (I've noticed something about the craves...and hope all of you are reading this who have crave problems, something stressfull is happening with one of my children, family or friends...and sometimes worries about finances or not getting my housework done in the manner of time I thought...they are just triggers...and so I breathe, and I say...you don't want a smoke...you need a solution) I'm doing good....and my teeth are whitening up too...bought myself a sonic toothbrush and some "at home" whitening products as my Dental cleaning is coming up and I announced to the dentist (last month) that when he saw me again, I would be a non-smoker...ta-da!!!!! When I made that statement to him, naturally the old addict in me had an evil grin :eg: I am sooo happy about the success of my quit, I am telling everyone. I am more comfortable going out in public now too. I know I don't smell anymore....YEY!!! Anyone else care to chime in here and let us know how your quits are going. My Quit is successful, and I consider myself a NON-SMOKER NOW! :)auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,333 Amount Saved: $123.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 16 Mins: 8 Seconds: 27
