007 Quit! How are you all doing? Check in, say hi, update :)

Hi Freedom, and congratulations! I have to say I'm a little appalled at your co-worker offering you a cigarette twice! That's terrible. A lot of my co-workers and friends smoke but they've been ultra supportive. Good for you for standing tough! I'm hanging in with my New Year's quit. Still battling the cravings, still on the patch. Seems to be working. I've certainly thought about ripping off that patch and having a ciggie a few times, but I only thought about it, I didn't do it! Keep up the good work. Wow! Sounds like you're doing great! To be able to be around someone smoking and the stress you're dealing with, that's awesome. I'm just starting my 5th day myself and so far, so good. Cravings have not been quite as bad as I expected, however, I've spent the last couple of years learning to absolutely hate smoking! Maybe I was just ready for this. Now, if I can just get my husband to quit! Luckily he's being good about keeping the cigs locked up in his truck and we have never smoked in our house so that helps. I actually feel like I could be around him smoking without giving in, I'm just scared to test it yet. Hope everyone out there is doing well! Hello my friends, I've been attending to a sick child and working maddening hours. I'm still 3 months behind at work, the stress level is 10 plus, a start up company going IPO in late 07. Great opportunity but I did that, wore the tee shirt and don't feel like doing all the grunt work for another couple of years. Feeling torn on whether to carry on or quit and find another job. I'm still smoke free. I've had days where I would love to have a cigarette but keep reminding myself that I'm an addict, giving my hard-earned money to some fat tobacco company :) and that makes me say NOPE. I have two great success stories to share: I rewarded myself and went out with an old friend for dinner. We had a bottle of champage and a bottle of red wine (decadent!). I didn't smoke and she is a social smoker and had a couple (outside in the freezing cold). I also spent a cigarette break with a co-worker - she offered me a cig - twice, but I turned it down and we chatted about work. She took 3-4 drags and put it out as it was too cold and that just re-inforced my Quit that day - why bother, why bother smoking in the freezing cold, taking a few puffs and being lighter in the wallet. The only drawback is a bit of weight gain. Hope to catch up now but I think of this site daily. Hope everyone is doing great and everyone is still about :) :) Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 716 Amount Saved: $172.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 23 Seconds: 9

Everyone sounds good and Aunt Deb, I so agree about not smelling. I can smell shampoo! Jan, you're doing great! Joyce, I'll be watching for the end of hell week for you! Marg, great to see you here, I was ok with her offering, I really didn't want one and it was gratifying to watch her smoke and me not, if that makes any sense. Noel, I agree, it is nice to help others along, if only to say to my co-worker, quit before your social smoking becomes all inclusive. I hope everyone else is doing great! Where is daytime Mommy I hope she's still with us. Next? I know the weekends are slow but cheers to all the newbies marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 751 Amount Saved: $187.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 12 Mins: 11 Seconds: 48

Hi Interesting, yes, I spent alot of time here those first couple of days, thought I couldn't do it. So glad I have some time under my belt. Don't stay too far away, I know it's hard to make the time but it helps doesn't it? WTG on the long drive and 4 weeks is huge! Karen, don't beat yourself up. I'm taking Chantix so even if I did have a drag, I would not have enjoyed it as they make cigs taste horrible so there was no point for me. I'm glad you picked yourself up and dusted off and know your triggers. For me, the biggest trigger is stress on the homefront, always something to attend to. I want to reward myself with a cigarette still, but I find I think about them less daily. One of the biggest pluses is not searching for matches, lighter, being able to get out of the car without saying "where's my cigs". Hope others check in today. I commend your honest Karen. Believe me, I was tempted. I work with and have family smokers. I can't avoid them ;) Maire My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 791 Amount Saved: $195 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 19 Seconds: 12

I haven't been here quite as much lately. Thanks for starting the thread, Marie. I'm doing well, and am still proud of my progress! The past 3 or 4 days, those renegade cig icons are running around in my head again. When other stressful things leave a little empty space in my head, the renegades rush in to take it up. It's been annoying, but today was actually better. I did a road trip this weekend of 8 hours in the car, and dreaded it. I always looked forward to smoking on road trips. I took sunflower seeds, and it was just fine. I've kind of waited to go anywhere simply for the fact that was one thing I was a little concerned about. Overall, I'm doing great! My personal life is a little stressful right now, and a couple of times I've thought maybe this wasn't the greatest time to quit, but as we all know, there never is a good time. I'm glad I have the 4 weeks complete! It seems not that long ago that it was day 1, and I sat here... for a week! lol Have a great week everyone! Hi Friends..***auntdeb here checking in with the 2007 Quitters**** I'm having less and less craving as the weeks are starting to mount up. Last week seemed a little more for some reason, but looking at my own words as I tried to advise others...breathe, breathe, breathe...it will pass and it does. (I've noticed something about the craves...and hope all of you are reading this who have crave problems, something stressfull is happening with one of my children, family or friends...and sometimes worries about finances or not getting my housework done in the manner of time I thought...they are just triggers...and so I breathe, and I say...you don't want a smoke...you need a solution) I'm doing good....and my teeth are whitening up too...bought myself a sonic toothbrush and some "at home" whitening products as my Dental cleaning is coming up and I announced to the dentist (last month) that when he saw me again, I would be a non-smoker...ta-da!!!!! When I made that statement to him, naturally the old addict in me had an evil grin :eg: I am sooo happy about the success of my quit, I am telling everyone. I am more comfortable going out in public now too. I know I don't smell anymore....YEY!!! Anyone else care to chime in here and let us know how your quits are going. My Quit is successful, and I consider myself a NON-SMOKER NOW! :)auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,333 Amount Saved: $123.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 16 Mins: 8 Seconds: 27
