One craving at a time

Hi everybody, This is my first day to quit smoking. I don't know what to expect. I just hope the withdrawals won't be too painful. I've cut down my intake of cigarettes quite a bit...1 to 2 cigarettes a day. So now it's all the way. Update on my profile

I had to update my profile. I put 13 cigarettes a day when in fact it's 35. My last binge was 13 cigarettes before I quit. I've put a day in and I'm having a lot of cravings but I'm fighting them off. Right now I'm craving-free and it feels good. Love this site. It's already helped me an awful lot. How long do the withdrawals last anyway? Rough Ride This Morning

I'm having a tough time of it right now...just got up and all I can think of is a cigarette. I have to keep reminding myself that it will pass but I so much want one now for pete sake. How do I get rid of the craving in the morning...this is my 3rd day. I hear that the 4th day is the worse...don't know if I'll pull through. But I don't want to continue this terrible habit. Morning cravings

Hi everybody, Well I'm still on the road of recovery...just started. What I would like to know is what does a person do with the cravings in the morning...man, do I get an awful urge to smoke. Slipped

I'm beating myself up right now. Don't know what came over me but I slipped and had a few cigarettes. The thing is I didn't enjoy them. So I'm back on track tonight and hope tomorrow morning won't be too hard on me. Mornings are the worse for me. Time to change that. Beginning Anew

Well, I'm done with my slips...started 9:00 this morning and I don't want another cigarette. I'm totally disgusted with myself for smoking. I had done quite well back on the 23rd of September and hadn't smoked until the 30th. So I did it once and I can do it again...right? Mornings are the worst for me so I'll get up and get dressed and go the coffeehouse where I can talk to people and not smoke. I haven't smoked very much since the 30th of September...1 or 2 cigarettes a day, but I was falling back into the old pattern again. So time to quit again. I'm not giving up. This time around I don't think it will be that hard....been through it before so I know what to expect. Is it true that the first 3 days are the hardest? A New Beginning

Hello everybody Well, I started yesterday...couldn't do it sooner, but now I'm ok and I hope to stay that way. This morning lo and behold I was able to get up without feeling like I had to die for a cigarette...it's a good feeling. I realize that it's physical withdrawals that you have to deal with but it's also a mindset. Funny thing is I'm getting support from a lot of people, but most people I get support from are smokers. I guess they wish they could stop too, but it doesn't make it easier for me when they support me and they smoke at the same time. I'm hoping that watching these friends smoke won't trigger me to start again. I've smoked 40 years now and although I don't have respiratory problems the way I'm going I will down the road. It's a long time to have a habit and I have to persevere in my quit. Well, I'm off to exercise...I'm hoping that this will help in my quit. Hanging In

Well this morning I didn't have too much of a craving...managed to do without a cigarette, yeah!!! The cravings aren't bad at all this time. It doesn't bother me in the least when co-workers go outside for a smoke and I can't stand the smell of them when they come back in the office. I didn't realize how stinky smoking is. It really reeks. I'm feeling dizzy for some reason...is that part of the withdrawal symptoms?
