I'm so stupid!

I quit smoking on September 19,2006. I remained smoke free until about a month ago. I have no idea why I had the first cigarette, I guess I was feeling "bullet proof" because I had done so well. What makes it even dumber is that my reward for quitting was to ride a week long bike tour. I trained hard and got in my best shape of the past ten years. I started smoking again two weeks before The Bicycle Tour of Colorado. I was smoking about three of four cigs a day. I completed the week long, 425 mile ride, through the mountains of Colorado and felt great (My butt was a bit sore). I figured that when I got home I would resume quitting. The last two weeks I have fallen completly off the wagon and have been smoking a pack a day! No more! Today I am quitting again and will remember NOPE (Not one puff ever). I'll be back to this this site daily to get me going again!

Really, one puff led to that!

Thanks, Unhooked. I guess it helps to know that I'm not the only one who forgot about NOPE! Those nicademons are nasty little suckers!

I'm shamefully back

Well, what can I say? I had nine month quit that improved my health, saved me money, and felt great; but I blew it! Now I'm back and ready to do the work necessary to quit again. (And be smart enough to stay quit). Looking forward to meeting the group and utilizing their support. Today is my first day...

I think this a little trick (the first of many) that our old friend nicotine is playing on us. There are smokers everywhere, today, but we are not one of them. This is my second day, and so far so good! I will not smoke again. Here I go again

Tammy- You have come to a good place to quit forever. One day at a time and before you know it, you can almost forget you were ever a smoker. Don't do what I did and quit for nine months and then start again. Remember NOPE not one puff ever! What were your reasons to quit....???

Hey Lynne, You are right at a year! Way to go! This post is great, It covers all the reasons not to smoke. I can't think of any thing that has not been mentioned. My top five 1. To keep my health 2. To play with my grandkids 3. To save my money for something better. 4. Not being banished to the shop to smoke. 5. To not be a social outcast.
