Sore Throat

Yeah, I got sore throat, sores in the mouth etc. but was also sneezing. Went to doctor and she said she didn't know (!) but maybe it was an allergy so I'm taking some non-drowsy antihistamines. Seems to be so common among people on this site it's more than a cooincidence. Hello, I am new.

Hello Lou P Lou Welcome to the site. I feel like a new member too because it seemed to take me forever to work out how to move around and what to do. I am celebrating my 14th day smoke free today which is amazing and I have to say that having these people here to be with has helped a lot. Everyone has a different story and way of dealing with their quit so I'm sure you'll get a lot from it too. Have you filled in all the bit on the left which starts with 'You are Here'? because then your stats will show up at the bottom of your messages and we'll know all about you then!! Good luck. The Weekend is Over

Thanks for the kind responses and congrats. on my progress. You're right Ladycigevictor I don't need the safety net any more and had forgetten them till they were discovered when someone was looking for a dvd. Anyway they are gone now and smoked away. I had been feeling pretty damn smug what with being one day 14 and having been out to the pub and not having given in and then I put on some trousers last night which I used to often wear and they wouldn't meet!! I guess - as they say - 'something's got to give'. I'm going to give that IM another try. I get the heads and click on them and write a message but nothing else happens so don't know where to go from there. Two weeks smoke free!

Welcome back Bobbi. Hope the visit with you family went well. Well done you too. As I write this I am officially at two weeks and can't quite believe it. I was open to advice on aids for my quit but had no luck finding immediate assistance from the health officials here so I decided to go 'cold turkey' and see how it worked out. Then I found this site and spent hours and hours trying to negotiate it and reading loads of posts from people who seemed to be so on the ball that I felt pretty inadequate. But here I am at two weeks smoke free, still without any aid and becoming reasonably adept at using the site but fear I will always feel like a newby. The great thing is though that I can spent ages on it at 'dangerous' times. Hope to hear from you when you get back. Withdrawals are killing me HELP!!!!!

Mel, I quit cold turkey and haven't really had headaches as such but have had a very messy head and sore lips! I think this is because I am chewing them in my sleep. I don't agree that you can't quit cold turkey and am determined to prove it!!!!!! Did you Litter Cigarettes?

I used to throw them out of the window of the car so as not to smell up the inside. Round here - an area in northern Britain - you get fined for doing it but I lived on the wild side back then. (All of two weeks ago!!) I used to smoke in the house too and then empty the ashtray into plastic bags to as not to smell up the rubbish bin...... Now the curtains and sofa still stink and that is my next thing to deal with because it is HORRIBLE.
