Off the Patch!

I'm behind you all the way Lainey!! Let me know how it's going, okay? Maybe we could start a "What did you do to be active today?" thread? I know I need some motivation. I think I've had about enough of using the "it's ok to eat while I'm quitting" self talk...lol -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,865 Amount Saved: $312.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 9 Mins: 57 Seconds: 57

Weaning off chantix/Halfing the dosage?

First off, I am not asking for medical advice..I am seeing my doctor, but chantix is so new she doesn't have much experience to go on. Chantix is so expensive (alright not quite as expensive as my cigs were, but pretty darn close), and I really am wanting to have some money for rewards, so......I am thinking of cutting my dosage in half for my third 4 weeks, so that I can continue for another 4 weeks. In the literature that comes with the pills, it said that some of the experimental group did this because of side effects. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so, what was it like? Was it still effective? I am also thinking it might be good in that my brain receptors will be weaning off the drug. I really would appreciate feedback on this. Staying quit is the most important thing to me. I don't want to jeopardize that. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,965 Amount Saved: $333.2 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 18 Mins: 16 Seconds: 39

Weaning off chantix/Halfing the dosage?

see, that's one of the things I've been thinking about..what happens when the chantix is not taking up those little holes in the receptors? i sure dont want to go through withdrawals all over again. i know, having tried just about every other method, that the nicotine withdrawal with chantix was very mild. Just scared what it will be like when i go off chantix. figure maybe i can kill 2 birds so to speak...stretch it out, deal with a lot of the psychological triggers, before i give my dopamine receptors a try on their own. Thanks for sharing your experience shakes.....glad you are doing it again -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,970 Amount Saved: $333.2 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 18 Mins: 35 Seconds: 36

Weaning off chantix/Halfing the dosage?

Thanks for all of your thoughtful input in terms of your experiences with chantix and nrts. Well, it looks like I will get to experience a half dose anyway...I forgot to renew my prescription until this morning, and the dr's office said the pharmacy probably will not have the renewal until tomorrow. So.....that means no evening dose. Kinda nervous, because the one main craving I have every day is around that time. But, I will NOT smoke. I know that. But I'm a wuss...I just want to avoid major discomfort. And yes, you're right PRB, it is definitely worth the cost. This is to be my third 4 week pack, so I thought I might give it a try. With close monitoring. I'm not going to jeopardize my quit to save a few dollars. I'll be interested to hear from others as they go off it. Sounds like it's not much of a problem. Yeah, MomMom, I'll miss those dreams too : ) KITA!!!!!! 50 DAYS!!!!!! HOW AWESOME!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,985 Amount Saved: $333.2 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 19 Mins: 57 Seconds: 11
