Hi - I am new to this site. I have been smoking for 24 years about 1.5 packs a day. I have tried cold turkey before...IT DOES NOT WORK! My doctor wants to try me on Wellbutren - Does anyone know anything about that or have a suggestion for something else? Let me know.

My name is Jen. I have been smoking for 24 years, and 2 weeks ago, they removed a lesion from my throat. It was not cancerous- thank God! However, it really scared me. I want to quit & thats why I've joined this site. My doctor wants to prescribe Wellbutrin - does anyone know if this is effective? or have any other suggestions?

I just read your posting...I am really scared too. But, I don't have a choice. I have been smoking for 24 years and 2 weeks ago, I went into the hospital to have a lesion removed from my throat. It was not cancerous, thank God, but it was a hell of a wake up call. I talked to my doctor, and she wants to but me on wellbutren...I'm willing to do anything at this point - I'm only 40 years old & still have a lot I want to accomplish in this life!
