I want my cigarettes back!!!

materialgirl, I hate to do this to you, but go to some web-sites that deal with oral cancers. It will scare the crap out of you. All forms of tobacco even cigs can cause this. You don't want that. It worked for me. Hello

Hello, how did you quit? Was it cold turkey, patch or fake snuff. I used the patch and the fake snuff for a few weeks. But, fear was the best thing to get me to quit. I had used snuff for 15 yrs and all it took was one lump under my jaw and going on a web-site to look for reasons for the lump. It is very scary to lose you face over oral cancer and the pictures and stories of cancer victims and families scared me to death. I am still scared, but maybe that's good. I even went to two different doctors and they said I had nothing to worry about. It's funny, but maybe it's because I just turned 30 or had my second kid, but I never worried about the effects of tobacco. Even 6 months ago, it never crossed my mind. Oh well, all that matters is that I have quit now. I guess this is a long rant on my part. Just checking in

Well, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! My family and I sure did. This was my first Christmas in 13 years without snuff! It wasn't easy, but I do have to admit it is getting easier. Where are all the dippers? Hopefully some "New Year Resolution" quitters will sign up. I am still having painful gums. Went to the Dentist again yesterday for a cracked tooth (bad luck in that department), and he said my canker sores have healed up, but some more have popped up. He said that it was common for this to happen. I also read on the internet that some doctors actually prescribe nicotine gum to people with chronic canker sores. Can you beleive that? I am rambling. hope everyone has a great and SAFE New Year, Fed_up My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 618 Amount Saved: $122 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 3 Mins: 6 Seconds: 15

Question for ex-dippers

ParrotLady, thanks for the advice. I did a search and it seems a lot of people have mouth problems after quitting. I was hoping to get some ex-dippers experiences though. The ex-smokers are a great help with their stories, experience and encouragement, but hopefully some ex-dippers/chewers will chime in. I did go to the dentist 3 days ago for a check-up and he said that I had two ulcers in my mouth. One I knew about and the other I didn't. He said everything looked ok and to come back in two weeks. After that is when my gums started to feel weird. Maybe it's in my head, or maybe the hygentist irratated them when she scraped the plaque. Who knows? Thanks again Fed_up My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 485 Amount Saved: $96 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 14 Mins: 12 Seconds: 33

Question for ex-dippers

Infinite D, or any of the other quitters (I use that word the good way), I have a question. My gums are starting to feel weird. Almost like they are itchy and a little painful. Did this happen to you all after you quit? Also, I am feeling guilty for quitting. Almost like I owe the devil for using snuff for 15 years. I think I quit in time. No cancer or anything. Is that weird? Thanks for any replies. Thanks again for the replies. Everything is going good. It's funny, but I don't even crave snuff. Where are all the other dippers/chewers? Hello

Just wanted to say Hi, and that I am new to the board. I have used smokeless tobacco for 15 yrs, and am looking forward to quitting. I have to be honest, I had a medical scare that made me quit. But, at least I am trying. Hello

Thanks for the replies! So far, so good. Every once in a while, I will get a craving. All I have to do is look at my children and that usually stops the crave. Anyways, thanks again for the replies. Fed_up

Just Thought you would like to know

Hey Infinite, How about the guys you work with? Do they still use snuff? I remember reading that you worked with a lot of dippers. Just checking in

Hello, The biggest thing to quitting is wanting to. If he doesn't want to he won't. Here is how I did it. First I had a medical scare that turned out to be nothing. Then, I got the patch and mint snuff. I completed the whole course and then weaned myself off of the fake snuff. I also did something I wish I had not done. I went to an oral cancer website and I read the saddest story of a man in his 40's that died from smokeless tobacco. It scared me pretty good. Finally, I read all the posts on this board about quitting chew. That's how I did it. Good Luck!
