Welcome lladro. I smoked for a long time too..45 years. This is one of the best tools (or weapons) you can have in your war chest to fight the nicodemon. A great place to rant and rave, and have TONS of feedback and support.
Cheers to you. Congratulations on finding this site. Your journey will be easier.
Read, read, read past posts. They will keep your mind busy and focused on this amazing, wonderful thing that you are doing for YOU! That lovely, human lifespark that is you and you alone. Cherish it and your time on this planet.
(whew) that sounded pretty heavy, dude.
I'm just glad you've joined the non-smokin train to a better, healthier life.
Welcome aboard.

Yo Bobby. I just wanted to say that if you check back on this thread over the next few days..(Christmas)..that there are lots of new quitters going through the same angst. (all that stuff that comes with Christmas).
Too bad there wasn't a mental channel that all we recent quitters could just 'access' by closing our eyes, coming together, and 'group think' all the yucky craves away.
Maybe we are doing that. ? ! ?

I have sooo much baggage. Ok.. decorate the tree for 10 minutes. Have a drink, have a smoke..decorate. Wrap a present..have a smoke..wrap a present. Rinse the turkey..drain the turkey..stuff the turkey..have a smoke..peel the potatos. AAARGH! I have 30 years of Christmas chores and rewards to overcome.
Let's stir in the dead parents, or grandparents, or even worse, dead children..(I lost a son on Dec 7th 33 years ago), and Voila! Christmas angst!
Thank goodness for the dog (bless her-she loves me no matter what), and my long suffering husband.
I just want to go to bed and wake up on January 3.

Keep it up Bear, I'm a neighbour (Oakville), and I smoked for 40 years. Stupidly taught myself to smoke when I was 15. You smell better, look better, and if you have any grandchildren, they'll notice the change.
That was my big reason. I don't know whether you have any family, but that's my motivation.
"maybe there,s another good reason I,ve overlooked"

Woops..missed that post about family being scattered..did not mean to hurt any feelings.
I just hope big time that you can keep up your quit. The 2nd biggest motivator for me was considering how I wanted to die.
Imagine yourself with as much breath power as breathing through a straw. Better yet, get a drinking straw, and try breathing through it.
That's not the way I want to go..not struggling for every breath. I just hope that I've not condemned myself to die like my Dad (Esophagus cancer ..along with all his brothers) or my mom..colon cancer.
I'm a bird person myself. My heart sings when I hear a kildeer, or a red-wing..for me, the first true signs of spring. I look forward to as many springs as I can cherish.
Keep well, and keep the quit. You will never regret it.

Hi Bear..hope you are still doing o.k. Had a smoker visit today. Wanted, needed to go outside with him, but.. DIDN'T! That's the beauty of having choice. I CHOOSE NOT TO! Smokes don't tell me how to feel, don't tell me to get antsy when I'm flying, or to be sure to have enough before bedtime for the morning.
The freedom is exquisite!

Tuesday Aa-afternoon...(Moody Blues) Yup..still hanging in. I sin in my dreams. Funny, though I never really smoke in my dreams, I just feel something in between my fingers. Just like finding money, I feel those coins in my hands, and when I wake up..Poof..Gone!
Be Well everyone
