Hey Changing There,s no short answer to this one.You sound like you,ve done some research as have I. But all that the research has done is bring up more questions than it answered.Am I physiologicaly predisposed, are there phsychological issues that need to be resolved. Sometimes I wished somebody would give me one of those smarten up pills so I knew LOL :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 368 Amount Saved: $200 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 1 Seconds: 45

Hi Bear - I think that you ask a great question & make a great point. This site is helping us to treat the problem (our addiction) - teaching us new coping skills, giving us new information, and providing us with the support that enables us to get through this process. It's a priceless resource. But, we're not necessarily touching the issue of what caused the illness (addiction) in the first place. I know that there is a genetic component to addiction (we're either born with the genetic predisposition to addiction or we're not) - scientific research has proven this. But, not everyone who is born with the "addictive gene" becomes an addict, so why did we? I have my own understanding for my personal situation/life experience. I strongly believe that therapy is the place to figure this out and could be a great benefit for everyone. Just my opinion of course! So how's that for a long answer to a short question Bear! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,588 Amount Saved: $292.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 19 Mins: 41 Seconds: 14

I have a question that has been bothering me for some time.Perhaps it,s been covered in a previous post or one of the support specialist can help me out ??? This question of addiction seems to be a rather complex issue and even the medical profesion seem to differ in their opinion as to the root of the problem. I love the support I get here but don,t realy feel that I,m getting to the root of my addiction. I,ve been told once an addict always an addict if it,s not one thing like smoking there,s always another lurking just around the corner. Is professional help next ??? I would like to here your views on this one..

Hey Changing. Yes that was soda pop we just kinda gave it a little turbo boost :p Ladybugg,& Sunshine Those are great numbers I,m guessing your well along in your recovery. It,s nice of you to stay on to help the rest of us thru this ordeal. I hope nobody,s offended but this has to be the largest collection of addicts in the world all under one roof trying to recover. Pretty awesome if you ask me. :)

Bear-- You had a few pops yesterday? I'm hoping that's "soda pop" you're referring to but guessing it's not!?!?
