Hi everybody!! Lizzardfreak and SharkbOy - Look at you go!!! Ginette is right, it does get easier! For me it seems as though every crave I get through without picking up, makes the next one just that much easier to get through. I say to myself "smoking will not make this better, it will only make me feel worse" many times throughout the day and it really helps me put things back in perspective.
When I first quit - the very first day, I carried around this rubber ball with me. It distracted me and gave me something to "fiddle" with to keep me busy. It REALLY helped me alot when I was driving mostly, but I also used it when I was at my desk at work and when I was bored at home too. So yesterday afternoon I noticed that ball in my purse and I realized that it had been about 2 days since I have looked for, needed or used it. I didn't realize how much easier my quit was getting until that moment. So hang in there - it DOES get easier!
:) Jen

Hi Fighter!
I just wanted to say it is my first day too, and I feel like you described. I also feel "buzzed" and a little dizzy. I think that is from extra oxygen? I don't know, but I sure feel good not smoking! How bout you?

I am so happy to hear that you made it through the weekend! (despite the smoker and the "sneaker", lol!) Look at that victory you now have under your belt! You can now look back and say to yourself (when you need to) "If I made it through THAT I surely can make it through THIS!"
Fantastic job girl!!!

One thing that is working for me so far is to remember what the yuckyness felt like when I was at the end of my smoking. Maybe tonight during dinner you could think about that hospital experience that so motivated you quit in the first place. Or if your dine with family, you could all talk about that scary experience. I remind myself constantly when I feel like I want to smoke that I DO NOT WANT TO DIE. I do not want to get COPD, Emphysema, another bronchial infection, etc... "I WANT TO LIVE!!!!" is my current mantra.
I take brisk walks with my kids and or hubby in the evening after dinner. I get going fast enough (arms swinging and all) to keep my heart rate elevated for at least 20 minutes (a decent cardio workout I have read). It also helps me sleep a little better at night.
Hang in there! WE CAN DO THIS! We ARE doing it!!!!!!
:)

Its AMAZING how much time we spent killing ourselves isn't it?
What am I doing with all that extra time you ask Josie? Laundry! lol! Hmm, I sleep in a little later, go to bed a little earlier and I am more productive (when I wanna be! ha ha!) throughout the day!
