Later in the day

I know I already wrote and said how great I was doing, but I feel so wierd right now. I feel agitated, I have a headache and I keep thinking about cigarettes. I am arguing w/ myself in my head (which is probably why I have a headache!). I know I am addicted to cigarettes. I know if I have one; it will lead me to three and ten and the next thing I will be smoking full-time again. I don't want to do it, but sometimes the self-talk stuff just aggravates my need for a cigarette. Do you have any advice? I can't go for a walk, becuz I'm at work and am chained to my desk (front desk of hotel) until quitting time @ 3pm. I've had gum, my jaw hurts. I seem mad, don't I? I don't mean to be. :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23 Amount Saved: $2.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 35 Seconds: 6

GOOD side effects!

Hello, it's day two of not smoking, I feel pretty good. I actually slept better last night than I have for a long time. I did sleep w/ patch on, becuz my tough times are first thing in the morning. I worried about having nightmares, but I had the opposite "problem." My hubbie told me about ten times last night how proud he is of me, and that made me feel especially better. One thing that crawls into my brain - is the 'habit'-- not necessarily the craving. Does that make sense? I think that I 'should' be having a smoke, becuz it's breaktime or lunchtime or I'm bored........I'm not really having a real craving. Thanks for your very nice responses back, they really encourage me. I can't quite figure out how to reply back to you. Can you help me? :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21 Amount Saved: $2.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 13 Seconds: 3

First day

Hello, I'm Sallys_daughter. Today is my first smoke-free day. I've quit before, but have never been successful. I'm doing the patch & wellbutrin. I feel okay, not stressed or anything. I mostly feel confused as my entire day has been different. I've been telling anyone who will listen that "I've quit." I'm doing this to save my marriage, of course I've always WANTED to quit, but my husband asked me point-blank: "do your cigarettes matter more to you - than I do?" Boy if that didn't make me feel bad. Any way, I'm trying to be positive and not worry.Text My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Slipped and fell

I went 2.5 days w/out cigarette. I was proud of myself. But I still wanted to smoke, so I told myself I was a grown-up and could do whatever I wanted. So on Thursday night, I went out & bought a pack of cigarettes. It's now Saturday night, and I think there are three left in the pack. I don't know why I'm doing this. I just wanted to come clean w/ this place -- ya'll have been so nice and supportive, I didn't want to lie. (I just got back from flushing them down the toilet, why keep the temptation around). Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so am starting right now, 4:36 CST, I quit again. :confuse:

Do you ever feel like it's all for nothing?

Thank you, dear Butterfly swimmer. I printed out the benefits list you wrote about, and they are all so encouraging and true. I noticed you just quit in April, how is it - that you are so positive? Are you on a natural high? ;)

NONE

Hi group! Thanks for all of your very encouraging words while I have struggled with this first (honest) attempt to quit smoking. Over the weekend, I was trying to recall what acronym you had given me (I now know it's NOPE), but I thought it was NONE. Not One Not Ever. It's not bad, right? At least I was thinking in the right frame of mind! Not One Not Ever. I am moving forward, being positive, realizing that just becuz I CAN smoke, doesn't mean I will. That was so dumb of me to think. I was just trying to justify my relapse. I appreciate your very understanding posts, thanks so much. ;)

Mrs. Cranky

I have been very irritable, cranky and grouchy the past two days. Yesterday I thought it was becuz it was Monday ( :quest: ), but as it turns out, no - it's becuz I'm serious this time about quitting and like that t-shirt says "I HAVE ONE NERVE LEFT AND YOU'RE STEPPING ON IT"...........that's sorta how I feel right now. I appreciate your cheerleading, it's really helpful! Going strong

Hello all you very supportive people: I just want to say that I'm doing good, feeling positive, giong strong. I think this time I just have more sense; becuz I've realized it's NOT willpower. I know there will be hard times ahead, maybe even today; but I'm going forward ONE DAY AT A TIME, and sometimes - ONE HOUR. I just keep telling myself NONE. No One, Not Ever. I don't want to start over again and again and again. Thanks for your support, it means the world to me! :) :p :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 51 Amount Saved: $8.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 41 Seconds: 45

Success

I came across this quote at work today, felt inspired to share it with you. "Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never -- yes, never -- sell yourself short." ~David J.Schwartz My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 68 Amount Saved: $11 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 19 Seconds: 51

8 days a week

Hello, I just passed my 8 days of being smoke free. I feel so figity and nervous. It seems that the hardest part; is breaking the 'habit.' I have cravings, yes - but I battle more w/ "what I should be doing, now that I'm not smoking." My work hasn't been very nice lately - I used to regularly take 2-15 minute breaks to smoke, now they assume I don't need a break. I tell (and not ask) that I'm going on break; I try to walk around the hotel, avoiding the break-room, or go visit a friend in the sales office, just anything to break the habit of sitting down for a smoke & reading the paper. When I quit once before (I lasted 10 months) I would tell myself "well if you still want a cigarette in a hour, you can have one," which actually worked becuz in an hour - I would have forgotten about it. But now - I'm living hour-by-hour, I just have to stick w/ the NONE approach; not one, not ever. It's SUCH a demon, isn't it? My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 126 Amount Saved: $22 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 6 Seconds: 40
