Slipped and fell

I went 2.5 days w/out cigarette. I was proud of myself. But I still wanted to smoke, so I told myself I was a grown-up and could do whatever I wanted. So on Thursday night, I went out & bought a pack of cigarettes. It's now Saturday night, and I think there are three left in the pack. I don't know why I'm doing this. I just wanted to come clean w/ this place -- ya'll have been so nice and supportive, I didn't want to lie. (I just got back from flushing them down the toilet, why keep the temptation around). Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so am starting right now, 4:36 CST, I quit again. :confuse:

Hello again Sallys_daughter, I'm sorry to hear that you have slipped :( But very proud that you have chosen to quit again! See, my dear, there are choices in everything we do. When a craving comes on, you make a choice on how you will take it. If you make the choice to smoke, then you smoke. If you make the choice to not smoke, then you don't. Your quit is all about choice. Choose not to let Nicodemon win. You have to fight this. But the more thought you give to the junkie, the more power you give it too. Take that power back! Let a craving just be a craving. Get through it, then let it go........... Don't dwell on it.
But I still wanted to smoke
We all did and some still do. But again, we chose N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever. Reach within yourself and find your strength. Learn from your mistake, and go forward...... You can do this! I am here for you!! ;) 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,098 Amount Saved: $225.63 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 15 Mins: 4 Seconds: 30

Sallys_daughter- You can do this POSITIVE Attitude, POST often and Not One PUFF ever. If you feel like smoking post and wait for at least 3 replies Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Daughter... I'm not saying this to discourage you but I think we all "want" to smoke. Smoking is a horrible addiction. It is a long time before the want goes away. Work on getting through five minutes at a time. We all quit using N.O.P.E. It is the only way to be successful. Don't beat yourself up over your slip. 2.5 days is a lot to be proud of. Get back on your quit and stick to it. Each time you put nicotine back into your system, you are starting the whole quit process over again. You don't want to do that. Remember: Everyday is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Hang in there. It really does get better. Sally's daughter, Yes, you CAN smoke, but you CHOOSE not to. You have made a CHOICE to end your slavery and improve your health. There will definitely be times when you want to smoke, but you must want to not smoke more than you want to smoke. Only then will you quit successfully. Remember N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever. That's the only way to have a successful quit. I'm very glad that you got rid of the rest of the pack. Best wishes on this new quit. You CAN do this! sallys_daughter, Thanks for your confession. They say it's good for the soul. :8o: Now, time to get back on that wagon and hold on tight for a wild ride to freedom from addiction! Yes, smoking is a choice.. just as quitting is a choice. You know what? Dying from a smoking related illness is not a choice. I think you get the picture. Give yourself the give of life tomorrow. Best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart.
