Here Goes

Hi Today is the first day of being smoke free for me in a long time. I've tried before but never got the courage to get support like this. I feel better being in the same boat as someone else

1 day down, forever to go

Thanks to all of you who responded. Today is my second day and the support from your responses has helped me so much! When looking at the withdrawl symptoms, the worst to hit me yet is the "out of it" feeling. Did any of you go through this? I am a social worker and I need to be alert for my clients. Will this feeling end?!!! help!

Congratulations Holly on making it through day 1, most of day 2! For me, the first few days were absolute hell, but what you need to remember is that these miserable cravings will subside. I dont know what your schedule is like, but for me, I went to bed early and kept myself isolated from people who smoke. Anything that I could do to keep myself from just having that "one." I also am on the gum, which really helps. I am on day 15 and I feel so much better, I never thought I could last until now, but it is so attainable! Keep strong, you cann do it! Why Now

Eve I think you may be right. 1. it is the weekend 2. I went on a weeks vacation too-every other vacation I have taken means extra smoking because i never smoked at work. 3. I have been around people that smoke 4. Only a couple of the smokers are supportive Thank you for the insight, it helps. I am going to try to change my routine this week and keep it up! Frustrated

Hi Cuddles My husband is also a smoker too. fortunatly he does not smoke in the house, but i every time i look outside my view is to look at him puffing away. Although having to live with a smoker is extra tough, think of it as being a great role model for him and hopefully he will walk in your shoes soon! Let me know how it goes, I am curious to see how others in similar situations are doing. Why Now

Ok so it has been a little while and I calmed down a bit, got my nicorette gum and I feel better. I have gone so far and i am not going to back down. I have to keep remembering that I want a family some day and my future kids dont need a stinky, sick, smokin mommy. keep going, keep going, keep going.....
