Hi All,
Proud to say I'm into my third week of being a non-smoker!
Hope you are all hanging in there and doing well.

Stacey -
So glad you're here with us!
Today will most likely not be a fun one for you - but you'll get through it! As I'm sure you know - drink gallons of water today, have sugarfree gum & candy nearby, keep busy as a bee, and post here often.
A piece of advice/info that I read about here has been really helpful - You have more cravings as a smoker than a non-smoker! As a smoker, you're constantly thinking about, wanting, and plotting your next smoke. Withdrawal/cravings start within 20 minutes of finishing a cigarette. You don't have to go through that anymore!!!
Keep in touch!

The new medication is Chantix. I'm using Chantix and it's been very very helpful. And, it's not a nicotine replacment - so there isn't the nicotine withdrawal to go through again when you go off it. Anyway, everyone has to do what's right for them!
By the way, I slept through the first few days of my quit - so enjoy naps whenever you need them!

Welcome - I'm truly happy that you've decided to join us! As you read (and read and read!!!) posts here at the SSC, you'll find that all of us have been about as smart as an Ox when it comes to smoking. Nicotine is a horrible, deadly, powerful addiction. But, the good news is that we CAN and DO beat it!
You'll find a ton of tips & support here - so use them both - you deserve it!
As for today - drink a gallon of water, use sugarless gum & candies, keep busy, post here, and you'll make it through.
Keep us updated on how you're doing!

Welcome - I'm glad you found this site. I'm just a little bit behind you on the Quit Road, so I've got your back! ;)
I'm also finding this to be a daily battle, but I know that it's one worth fighting and one that you & I are both winning!
It's like I've just woken up from a coma and have to teach myself how to walk, drive, eat, read, etc. without smoking. But, I do find that it gets easier each time I "practice" doing something as a non-smoker.
I highly recommend that you spend time reading through posts here, then, read some more. It's incredibly helpful!
Remember - we're in this together!
