CONGRATULATIONS, DEB on your decision to quit smoking. This is not an easy road to travel but so worth the work, pain and agony. Well, it's not quite that bad but it can be difficult at times. And those are the times that you want to come to SSC and post post, post and read, read, read. We are a great group of QUITTERS and we like to welcome others to this wonderful ciber space. Hi Robert, and welcome to SSC. You are right, this is a rough road to travel but you can do it just like the rest of us....one day at a time. In fact, in the begnning sometimes it's one minute, one second at a time. We are all addicts and first of all we have to admit that to ourselves before we can move along very far with a quit. One puff is too many and l00 not enough so we say Not One Puff Ever....N.O.P.E. Keep that in mind as you jump on this wagon going to a new way of life. I am new and the stress is raining

CONGRATULATIONS CSMN!!!!!!!!!!You are in the right place to get help with your quit. Everyone's quit is different but the first week or so I spent most of my time reading the posts on SSC. also used the patches. Use whatever works for you and if one thing doesn't help try something else .... just don't smoke. Remember Not One Puff Ever, N.O.P.E. because one puff can ruin a perfectly wonderful quit. YOu arre right when you say smoking won''t help ANYTHING. Just keep telling yourself that and know that your children do need you around. I'm sure things will improve as the days go by. Let us know how you are doing. Smokeless in Fl.

Congratulations Lana, and welcome to SSC!!! You already have a wonderful quit going. Be sure to get your quit meter going because it's fun to watch the days count up. You are never alone on this site and I doubt if there's a problem that hasn't been discussed or (cussed) here. We are all in this together to help one another so pull up a chair and spend some time with us. I'm sure it will be helpful. j-1...yiipppiiiii!

CONGRATULATIONS CATINDUBLIN on a wonderful decision to quit smoking. We are all ready to take your hand, pull you up the hill, lend a shoulder to cry on, willing to listen to you rant and rave .... ANYTHING, just don't lite up. Your quit date is fast approaching so be sure to get your tools lined up. I'm talking about toothpicks, gum, cinnamon sticks, hard candy, ice water, etc. Also, you didn't mention if you are using NRTs. I found the patches very helpful but some here think cold turkey is the way to go. WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU!!!! Get your quit meter started so you can check the days off and money saved. Glad you are here. Hugs, Nan My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 311 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,153 Amount Saved: $1181.8 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 21 Mins: 3 Seconds: 25

New comer

WELCOME TO SSC ANNIE!!!!! You have given yourself quite a bit of time to prepare for your quit. Some people find that they are ready before their quit date and if tht happens so go ahead and quit.....sometimes thinking about it and dwelling on it is harder than just going ahead and quitting. I found the patches were a big help to me, however many here go cold turkey. WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU!!!! Feel free to ask questions or express how you are feeling. Someone is usually around to help you. Hugs, Nan My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 311 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,153 Amount Saved: $1181.8 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 21 Mins: 4 Seconds: 11

Tomorrow will be day 1 for this soon to be new non smoker

CONGRATULATIONS BEAN on your decision to quit smoking. I used the patch also. I tried to quit several times using the patch and quit the patch much too soon. So I would recommend using the patches strictly as directed, perhaps a little longer but certainly don't shorten the time that is recommended. Welcome to SSC - stick around and let us know how you are doing. HI Grandma 46 and Grandma - I'm a GREAT grandma so I got a very late start in getting rid of this addiction. It is a very difficult time but you can do it. Just stick with SSC and read, read, read. I spent hours here the first few weeks of my quit and it certainly did help to know how others were coping with the craves. Let us know how you are doing.
