Name that tune

If you had to chose a song/songs that summed up your life & experiences what would it/they be & why?
I have a few but will add these to the thread when I have seen other's answers.

Name that tune

Thanks davit, The Rose is one of my choices, I played that & wind beneath my wings at my husbands funeral. Those would be my choice when Im feeling blue. At the moment I am still blue so can't think of a happy one.

Challenging Negative Thoughts

Hi Matilda, Don't worry you haven't depressed us, I can guarantee you, you can write almost anything in the support group and you will not be judged, we are all friends here, we are here to listen, support and give any advice we can. I found just writing the comment below helped enormously, It was also the anniversary of my dad's death this week. I was crying as I wrote which is one of the greatest releases, sometimes you wonder just where all the tears come from & will they ever stop.

You have had many hard times in your life like myself, I found a lot of people turned away from me when I needed them the most as they didn't know how to handle the situation, all I needed was a hug. We have both been through very similar situations and I'm certain there are many others on here who have to. Everyone here has different life experiences, yet when we sign into here we are united in that we are all trying to achieve our own personal goals.

I know you are in the UK like me, maybe we can sort something out & find each other on facebook, I know we won't be anonymous that way, it's just an option, just reaching out to let you know I am always here to listen to any of my family on here.
Take care Matilda & take some time for yourself to remember the good times & fond memories you have of your parents.

not sure where to go next

Hi Lovestrees,
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with your therapist, I have had many therapists in my 20 years of therapy 2 of them I just could not relate to, I didn't feel at ease with them and as such could not share my life & experiences with them, it sounds to me like you are experiencing the same with your new therapist, if you can't truly open up then that defeats the object of you being, there.
Maybe you could find another therapist, I know they are hard to find & finding one who you can trust implicitly is extremely difficult. As you say you find yourself back here again, that could be because you know you have friends here who wont judge you, will listen, support & advise you whenever we can.
As for your Doctor being dismissive & telling you to go find a psychiatrist, shame on her that is very unprofessional of her maybe you need to change your doctor too.

Take care we are all here for you, please let us know how you get on.

Newbie!

Welcome Suzanna you have definitely come to the right place, follow the program & join in the support group and you will hopefully get all the support you need. Sometimes just reading the forum is educational enough but you also have the benefit of the sessions too. This site can literally change your life.

We are all here to support each other and advise where possible.
Anxiety is very complex & has many facets as you already recognise a lot of your symptoms all you need to do is to learn with this program how to control them.
Keep us posted & let us know how you are getting on.
Good luck

Started cooking french today!

Hi sunny your elk sounds wonderful have you ever tried wild boar? I only eat white meat now but tried wild boar twice it was so succulent, tasty & lean.
I don't know if anyone else does this but I have in my mind pictures of all of my friends & on here & where they live & Sunny your home sounds like a wonderful woodland dell, somewhere I would feel very comfortable.

Bren you sound a lot more positive & I'm so happy to hear about your French cooking, I have never tried it. I have no-one to cook for now I live alone & don't bother for myself, but I must say the sound of Davit & Sunny's fresh  bread rolls have my mouth watering. The smell of fresh bread, always makes me smile, as does fresh cut grass or rain on a warm sidewalk. Anyone else have favorite smells that make them smile?

I'm happy to report I finally got my therapist appointment through, it only took 5 months!! I called and told my therapist I had achieved so much with the help of panic center & that I don't need the intense therapy I did when I self referred all those months ago.

Vincenza, Ashley, Josie & Samantha can you guide me into the correct type of therapy I need for an eating disorder? Do you have a sister site for this?
Finally I am ecstatic to report that my relationship is back in a healthy state, I realized I was putting pressure on him to make a commitment to me as I was terrified of losing him as I had every other man I have ever loved. Once I got my mind healthy & realized I don't need a ring & piece of paper to prove our love I relaxed we had a very long discussion, realized we didn't like being apart & the idea of a life without each other was inconceivable.

If it hadn't been for the guidance & support of my friends on here I couldn't have gotten through the past 5 months, I was ready to say goodbye to the world, now I can't wait to embrace my life with open arms.
Thank you everyone

Challenging Negative Thoughts

Matilda I totally understand the anonymity thing, I feel the same I noticed the buddy thing but don't know how it works.
How are you getting along with your program? The important thing to remember is that you only get out what you put into it, the more time & effort you put into your counseling the more benefits you will see, just remember to take some time out to relax some time for you. For the first 3 months I was doing about 3-4 hours reading on here and then turning to my books for more, maybe I over did things, yet that intensity helped me vastly & now I am a totally different person, I don't recognize myself sometimes, especially when being assertive, I have always been passive in my communication skills, now I can answer questions & give my input into situations with confidence & assertion.
5 months ago I wanted to leave life behind, now I can see with a healthy mind just what a wonderful place it is & just how much I have missed out on.
Let me know how you are doing, let us all know we all care x

Debated where to put this....

Congratulations Anerol thats a big achievement, I hope you are proud of yourself, I think the actual build up to the exposure work is worse than the work itself, and you did it on a rainy miserable day, imagine how much nicer the experience would have been if the sun had been shining & the birds singing. Keep up the amazing work, baby steps will eventually lead to huge leaps.

Challenging Negative Thoughts

Hi Matilda I was happy to hear back from you, keeping a diary is a wonderful idea & shows that you are truly committing to this, also connecting your food intake to your mood is a fantastic way of finding out what has an affect on you. I certainly noticed a huge change when I stopped drinking coffee & tea, I drink mostly camomile now but also other herb or fruit teas, I didn't have any caffeine withdrawal which was lucky.

Keep us updated & you are correct in saying this is definitely the best place for help. Take each day as it comes & if & when you do have a bad day don't give up just put it behind you & remember tomorrow is another day.

You feel you have been at your lowest & so there is only one way to go & that is upwards, give yourself time and be patient, I can see a change in you already.
