How?s she goin? b?ys?

Day 43... the end is in sight.

I only have another week and a half on the 7mg patches and then I'm free. ;) Or, almost free... I'm going to keep the gum around for a while, just in case. Woohoo!

I've been having smoking shame dreams, hahaha. It's so weird. I very rarely remember my dreams--and what I do remember is vague--but I've had a couple of dreams that I recall involved me wanting to smoke, feeling helpless and overwhelmed, deciding to smoke, and feeling guilty and ashamed. I don't remember seeing myself actually smoke, just the before/after. Weird, eh?

But oh well. It didn't really happen and I'm still going strong. :D

Scared!!

I Choose Life: I'm using the free Lose it! app for the iPhone. I enter everything I eat during the day, any physical activity I do, and track it. I can see my daily progress and my weekly progress (which prevents me from allowing too many "treat" days).

I think doing something like this could help you tremendously. If you prefer to use a computer rather than a smartphone, there are lots of websites that allow you to track calories in and out. It'll give your mind something else to obsess over, rather than smoking, and you can watch your weight.

And don't forget - the amount of weight most people gain is limited. It doesn't keep piling on indefinitely. You will reach a plateau and then you will either maintain it or lose it.

So far the only coping mechanisms I've really used are the patch/gum, regular gum, going to sleep, drinking water, going for a hand-shaking walk, etc.

I don't really have any others yet.

How?s she goin? b?ys?

I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms--but not cravings! I forgot my patch yesterday, so I think that's why I'm getting some withdrawal symptoms.

My skins feels numb, hahaha--mostly on my scalp, but it's everywhere, really. So bizarre and cool.

And I LOVE that there are no cravings with it. It's just withdrawal. But... I still have 8-9 days, or so, on the 7mg patch before I'm free. :D

Strategies!

I love those ideas. :)

"Be the change you want to make!" and "Lead by subtle, silent example!" are two of my favourite, similar pieces of advice.

What positive changes have you noticed?

My teeth are getting whiter every day. They're white enough now that I don't even worry about smiling anymore.

I'm sleeping much better.

I'm craving healthier foods. And I feel thirsty sometimes. I never used to feel thirsty--only hungry. Now I actually want water from time to time.

How?s she goin? b?ys?

Just got a really nasty, sickly head rush from a single piece of 2mg gum--symptoms of too much nicotine from just a single piece of gum while wearing the 7mg patch (when I started wearing the 21mg patch and couldn't chew enough 4mg gum to even feel it, hahaha).

The nicotine is really starting to leave my system... awesome!
