Rocking Along and WHAM Out Of NO Where!!!!

For me it depended on the moment. Sometimes the walking away from the source of stress helped. Other times it was the "blogging" that helped - just putting the demons on "paper" made them lose their powers. Other times it was relaxing music. Or super loud music so I can scream my anger... You name it... I've probably done it. But you know what? After a while it became less and less of a struggle. It comes back with a vengeance sometimes. But it does go away. I remember reading here that if you can get over the first couple of minutes, you will be OK. It works. You can do anything for short periods of time. And you've played this quitting thinggy for a month now. The worst of the worst is gone!!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. So people say. And they've been doing this for way longer than me and you. Keep your N.O.P.E. mantra going and the computer close. And you will do this. You ARE doing it already!!!

Happy it's Monday!!

I understand the feeling perfectly, Skates!!! Kudos to you for keeping the quit! Being around a smoker makes it twice as hard. But you are doing it, in spite of all this... How strong, how wonderful, what a great achievement... So, today, pat yourself on the back and give yourself a big reward for doing great! And, guess what? You are "allowed" to be grumpy!!!

it's working

You are doing SO amazing Leela! Fun to discover how life can be lived as a non-smoker, right? One thing at a time, one breath at a time, one crave at a time... and sooner than you think, you are 20, 40 , 70, 100 days smoke free. And you look back and wonder how come you thought this cannot be done. Great job.

TGIF

Rock you must be mind reader. I was just thinking that this is the weekend that my willpower is really going to be tested. We always spend this weekend with friends at their secluded house. About 16 people, lots of crazy old dudes (and duddetes...lol). Drinking, eating, joking... and mainly smoking... I will have my chew sticks and some old 7mg patches with me and plan to spend a lot of time swimming with the kids... And, as always, for me riding is the way out of a stressful situation (man, Kaiser, I cannot figure out how you managed to keep the ash out of your eyes...)
Keep the quit guys
And remember all the fallen heroes that we are celebrating this weekend.

Oh!

Man, I would hate to go through those days again! That been said, it is also reassuring that you have managed to get through those days without lighting one up. Would it be easier if you would go through the program, re-visiting the "why I quit" and maybe finding new coping with cravings techniques? I am sure that I have seen some old posts regarding the same withdrawal symptoms you must be feeling now. So maybe a search would reveal some... Oh Gimm, you are doing so great...

Remission?

MM,
I am speachless when I see your determination and courage and strength... I don't think your doctors know what kind of a fighter you are... Their predictions are just that - predictions. That does not make it a definite outcome. And the way it looks, you have the will and strength to fight this thing tooth and nail. You are a great inspiration to us, here at SSC. And I am sure that all the people that know you would say the same.
Stay well and stay strong. You are in my prayers.
