I have so many people here on SSC, that encouraged me on this path: Kaiser, No smoking Tresa, Marivi, Brenda... But the one that stood by me at all times was/is Impalamania/Dave. I do think I would not have made it this far without his help. So thank you again, buddy. For teaching me how to "Keep the quit"

Maybe it was a bit too early to go without the NRT. I thought about giving up the patches around 30 days and did not trust myself enough to do it. I went for almost 9 weeks and finally realized I can do without... But, let me tell you a secret... I still have a patch in my purse/pocket every day... just in case... lol
You are doing what feels right for you. As long as that means keeping the quit, you are doing great.

I don't think we ever get to completely forget that we ever smoked. But, rumor has it, it gets better. I do have the thoughts every now and then. But they are not as strong as I had them at 10 days or 20 days... it is more of a nagging feeling... But that too shall pass they say. And eventually we'll go for months at a time without even a thought. And then maybe years. Wouldn't that be nice...lol
Hang in there Gimm. Your determination is amazing. And look at you. You are doing it!!! 40 days without smoking. Yay! To 40 more.

Wow, never visualized what 10K cigarettes would look like. Or 1K, 5K, 100K for that matter. Isn't it amazing that if someone would have shown you that pic a year ago, chances are you would have shrugged it of with a "whatever"... And look at you now Dave... Looking ahead to a great life smokeless, healthier, happier... the new improved version of you...
Thank you for your success story! As you said: it is the proof that some of us need that it can be done!

This is such a great thread Rock. Yes, there are so many triggers. Little things that we used to always do while smoking... Does it feel "off" for the first few times when we do those things without the cigarrette in hand? Sure did for me... But, luckily for me, I can just smile when I realize I just figured out a new trigger, and move on. It's harder whith smokers around - kinda feel left out at times... But I try to socialize a bit more with the non-smokers in my group. Or just take a break - away from the temptation.... So far so good. But I am aware that Nico is lurking around during these times, hoping to lure me back into smoking.... Not gonna happen.
