Hello, I'm New Here

Yes welcome aboard.  You have picked the right support site.  I was so happy that I found this free support site.  Everyone here is AWSOME, so supportive and helpful.  Yes it doesn't matter how you get your nicotine, but so glad that you are kicking the habit.  Glad you made that choice before you invested half your life into it like a lot of us here.  Hang tough...you can do it.

Discriminated for not smoking :-(

When I was a smoker I registered with Marlboro to get coupons and promotional item's.  Well when I quit I didn't think that I needed to do anything.  I got a Penske racing package in the mail yesterday for two free tickets to a indy race on Aug 23, all I had to do is RSVP to get them.  I'm a big auto racing fan.  Was going to take my brother who is a amateur racer.  When I called to RSVP I was asked if I am a smoker.  I informed this person on the phone that I had just gave it up, but supported their company for 20-25 years.  After gathering more information about me, she informed me that this offer was only for smokers and I was no longer eligible to receive the tickets.  I'm so disgusted.

Discriminated for not smoking :-(

Breanne,  Thank you.  Yes I did go on and tell this person how discusted I was and how this proves that the cigarette companies do this to keep people smoking.  One thing I forgot to say in first post was, the person on the phone told me, if you pick up smoking again, please re-register for future offers.  I told the lady (in not very lady like words) no thank you.  And told her that I would not be very proud of my job if I were her.  Just still so angry.  I am in the process of writing the company and giving them a word or two.  Also wrote the race company who's name is working with them.  Wanted them to know how a company of that they are working with is treating race fans.  I want the cigarette company to know that I'm not going to just let this go.  They have not heard the last of me.

A phone call from Phillip Morris

I can't get Philip Morris to contact me at all regarding my issue of being discriminated for not smoking.  Maybe I should call them, but do not want to waist my cell phone minutes on them.  Read my post discriminated for not smoking if you would like to know what happened.  PB way to tell them.

Letting go

I agree with everyone.  What ever works for you.  PB do not feel quilty that you are not always around to give support to those who gave it to you.  I believe that this site is strong enough and has enough supporters that it works just fine to take some time away and to do what works for you.  I am so lucky and so happy that I found this site.  Just being able to post and read about things that many people are going through.  It also is a GREAT TOOL to just vent if you have to.  If this site was based on if you get the support then you need to give back, I do not think the number of members would be as high.  What ever support you can give is always welcome.  I love just reading post and posting my thoughts.  THIS SITE IS GREAT
