Who is exercising?

17 years ago 0 140 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I just started running again (literally . . today). Up until my relapse almost a year ago (I had been smoke-free for 2-1/2 years), I started to run for the 1st time in my life, at the age of 42. I worked up to 10k's, and joined a few organized runs. Some weeks I was racking up 40k. Once I started smoking again, it wasn't long before the running stopped. The exercise is so important for me, not only from a fitness stand-point (I could eat whatever I wanted - heaven), but mentally as well - I've been so down and out lately, and couldn't get out of my funk. Now that I've quit, and feel so much better, and better about myself, I know I am going to feel great! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 671 Amount Saved: $234 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 14 Mins: 41 Seconds: 19

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Before I started smoking I was a long distance runner. When I quit I decided to start back at it in baby steps. My first day I ran 500 m before I was out of breath. This morning I ran 2.6Km. Slowly but surely I'm improving and it feels great because this is something I could never do as a smoker. Maybe I'll get the added benefit of an improved bum! I signed up for a membership at my work on the 20th. They made me do this health checkup so I didn't start working out until the 22nd. I am doing aerobics and weight training classes. I have been twice so far. Since I haven't worked out in 5 years, smoked for 26 and started working out less than a week after I went cold turkey, I elected to workout really close to this read button on the wall with a siron light on it that says "Need Medical Assistance Now" navigator My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 173 Amount Saved: $28.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 46 Seconds: 14

I have been a bit of a bum this week. But if I go to the gym, I do 30 mins on the running machine, 30 minutes on the ?ski type machine, 15 mins on bike, 4 different weights 30 times each. Going on my mountain bike is great. I did ten miles all in last weekend. I love swimming but havent been for a while. I need to get back there and do it, but I am so tired right now,I just dont have the energy to get my arse down the gym!! AND I had pizza hut last night, but I didnt smoke!! :o) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 291 Amount Saved: 82.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 36 Seconds: 9

I Love this thread!! I can relate to sooo much of it!! When I was a smoker, I would go to the gym 2/ 3 times a week & Id often have to drag myself there!! Scince the day I quit, I have LIVED at the gym!! Ive had to ban myself this wkend, to make sure my body gets a rest!! How on earth did we used to go do a work out, walk out of the gym & light up?? Just crazy!!!!!! Im gaining sooo much more enjoyment from excercise now, its great!! I cant wait until i can run 5k!! Unfortunatley i've gained a few kgs, but its gotta be muscle mass. Im starting to believe gym is my new addiction :) I look & feel the best i ever have!!
