Who is exercising?

Wow. I can't imagine having 2 hours a day to work out. Between work, two kids, volunteering at the animal shelter and with a rescue group, it's a struggle to fit in a consistent exercise routine. How am I supposed to do this?!?! I have to be at work at 7am. I know it's going to come down to giving up the animals for this and I really hate that. I keep trying to fit it all in and it keeps not working. I don't want to smoke anymore. I want to be all around healthy. Ugh. Sorry. Thanks for letting me whine. Working out now is so much easier. I can remember thinking I was going to have a heart attack on the cardio machines. I still don't have the consistency I need with my workouts though. I need to figure out how to fit it in my schedule. I just don't have the motivation to get up at 4am anymore. I'm getting too old for that but that may be the only way I can get some consistency back into my life. Alexa, Would you mind sharing examples what you eat everyday?? I need to cut WAY down on my calorie intake but can't seem to come up with ideas on what to eat instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is what I eat (5 days a week Mon-Fri): At work between 8 and 4: Breakfast - 1 cup of oatmeal (100 calories) Snack #1 - 1 apple (50 calories) Snack #2 - 1 cup of strawberries (approx 45 calories) Snack #3 - 1 cup of waterlemon (approx 50 calories) I don't have lunch. At home, around 7pm: 1 cup of cottage cheese ( 15 calories per tablespoon) 2 slices of fried fish or 2 slices of turkey breast. 1 apple Over weekend I eat a little bit more, but not much. I eat more vegies, baked potato, low caloreis cold cuts, stuff like that. I don't have a personal trainer. It just the way I always was able to loose weight: minimum of calories and exercise. It just takes more time since I stopped smoking. There is no way I would be able to loose weight consuming 1200 calories a day, especially now, being non smoker. Hope it helps. I started going to the gym couple days after I quit smoking which was March 10th. So far, since March 10, I've lost 13lbs. I was very upset in the beginning because I could not loose even a pound, but then it started to come off. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week, I do 30 min treadmill, 30 min bike and 30-45 minutes weight machines or free weights. I am counting calories that I intake which is about 800 calories a day, maybe less. When I smoked it was really easy for me to loose weight, just quitting bread would make me loose a few pounds a month. But now, when I am not smoking, I have to work much harder to loose weight. Thanks Philip for the pool schedule. I went back to the pool today but it had been so long I couldn't get my routine back. This will help tomorrow! I'm not going back to the Masters Team until I can get into the swing of things! I exercise. I swim 4 to 5 days per week. 4 days are with a swim club and there are coaches. I have never swum before and I swim in the "d" lane (that would be novice beginners and those that can barely float). Have been going for 3.5 months and I currently swim about 1200 meters in an hour. I am not out to break records or compete and I am totally into healing my lungs and helping my cardovascular system mend. I smoked for 36 years and did myself a lot of damage. I bike in the summer and I will be biking to work everyday come the beginning of July. I worked out with weights a couple of years ago and needed a better trainer, cause I did lots of strain and damage. I like swimming because it is super low impact and I can do it. A typical work out is (400 easy (breast)) (50 kick (freestyle face down) 50 freestyle 50 back) repeat 4 times and 200 easy (I have been doing 100 freestyle with fins and 100 breast to slow down). I start with a 15 minute stretch and more streching at the end and usually a sauna when I get home. All of this started out as a program to not gain weight with the quit and has worked into reteaching myself how to breath. I started a new exercise and eating plan about a week ago and have lost 4 pounds so far. My exercise routine is walking on the treadmill 5 days a week for 45 minute sessions plus resistance training 2 days a week, 20 minute sessions. I enjoy cranking up the tunes on the IPOD Docking Station and drowning out the rest of the world during this time. It is so nice to get into the cardio without gasping for air! Have you all heard about the new IPOD accessory? It is a transmitter that fits inside your shoe, and speaks to your IPOD. Your IPOD will speak to you over your music periodically, giving you time, distance and I think calories burned. It is available only by pre-order right now and will start shipping in July. Anything I can find to make exercise more fun I will buy! (No, I don't work for Nike and have no investments in the company, just sharing). Mama, I have often felt the same way. In the last 8 months, I have chosen not to partake in (not give up!) cigarettes, caffiene, coffee, salt, sugar, some artificial sweeteners, alcohol, refined carbs (bread, pasta, candy, processed foods and high fat foods. For a long time I thought to myself, "I have given up all of my vices, what is left to enjoy?" What is left to enjoy is being healthy and feeling wonderful both physically and emotionally, having a strong body with energy to spare and the relationships with those closest to you. Why is it that we have to fill our bodies with chemicals and junk and treat our bodies like they are our enemies in order to feel good?
