Maybe I set my quit date too soon

15 years ago 0 145 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0

My computer broke down with a fatal error,  that is why it has taken so long to get back to you. If it isn't one thing, it is your mother. (heehee). It is so hard raising parents these days. bj that is exactly what happened to me. I so psyched myself out I felt immobile. Once I decided not to set a date and just let it happen when I decided on it, the fear subsided enough for me and I was able to put the evil weed down. I am on day 2. It is so nice to know HP that you are in my cheering section. I have read a lot of yours and the others post and they are so insightful and helpful. RonR I got my hammer and smacked that demon and working on day 2. How thoughtful of you to help when you are fighting your own battle. Congrats on passing day 5. It is nice to know Breanne that there truly are people that are there for me. I have never done anything like this, reaching out I mean, I think I like it.

THANKS ALL. I AM DOING IT ONE DAY AT A TIME.  NOPE NOPE NOPE

Hey Pupicat,

The vets on this site are right and so knowledgeable--follow their wisdom.

I'm a major newbie, and this time last week I was SCARED TO DEATH--so I'm not qualified to give you any advice. Just take it with a grain...

I'm convinced that the single most important factor in my success is that I want it more than anything and I believe in myself. I will not--cannot--allow for a single slip You have to be mentally ready and committed, and then it isn't so bad.

You've had a lot of tough times lately; I have too. The details don't really matter, the point is smoking a cigarette is totally irrelevant to resolving your/my problems: It doesn't cure a damn thing--in fact for both you and me it makes our health conditions worse! You're not giving up a solution to your problems, you're removing one of the major causes!

Cigarettes are not the answer to reclaiming your life and your health: Stopping a destructive behavior and  finding release from this horrible addiction is the only thing that will set you free.

Battling this demon will give you the confidence to fight all of the other challeges in your life--kick it's ass and then move on to the other ones with confidence.

STAND UP SMACK IT IN HEAD WITH A HAMMER AND CLAIM THE VICTORY!

Way to GOOOO Deb.      You know what the scariest part of quitting is?   It's thinking abou it.

I used mental picures.. like Jim says.. make a picture of the addiction..  Nicodemon.. to me it looked like a moster.. it had red beady eyes.  and smoke and flames ... smelled liked old wet cigarette butts.

someone else said put some butts in a jar of water.. make sure you pick one with a tight fitting lid.   Cut some straws to the length of a cigarette.. and you can take deep breaths from it.

we are here for you... so let us know when you take the first step...

I was feeling shy and embarrassed after baring so much of myself.   I was really wishing I had not .
I open my page and I see CybrDuke BIG HUG! and I just melted.  Started crying all over again. (happy tears this time) I sure am emotional these days. I have never felt so accepted just for being me, and in such a vulnerable state. Thanks to ALL of you. I can't describe the feeling, I just know what each of your already know. Here is a place where you can let it all hang out. The good, the bad, and the UGLY. Patrick I will put the meter back, I had to take it down cause I passed up my date and it showed me stopped.  Thank you for your support. DJ I did get that book and  hope to finish it tonight. Congrats on your 1st day. May this be just the first brick in a long road ahead of you. Hot SiO2, hopefully the Nico-demon has had his last laugh at me. I am ready to go and kick some ash. I will never forget N.O.P.E. again. This last time Nico-demon got his hooks in me good. Breanne thanks for being there too. I will need you every step of the way. THANK YOU ALL.

Always,

Deb (Pupikat )

Hi Pupikat!!!

The nico-demon IS a formidable foe!!  Just picture that ugly beast in your mind, trying to bend you to HIS will!!  You have the armour and the weapons to defeat him...  think positively and know that you will always have the inner strength to win the battles!  One day at a time, you CAN do this!!!  Just remember...  N. O. P. E.

Hi pupikat,  cutting down is a good thing, and that work well for many people.  We have to Work our quit thee best way for oursleves...

Have you had a vitamin D test?  I know you mention several illnesses.. I was "SEVERELY" vitamin D deficient, therre is a lot of information on the news, magazines and internet now.   Smoking also strips many vitamins and osteoperosis.  I had to go on a "special vitamin D" regimine for 12 weeks,   the test is just a blood test OH25D .  With everyone using sunscreen we are having a vitamin D problem.  Vitamin D defiency cn cause many many problems, including heart and stroke issues.

Keep us posted, and we are here for you
Bonnie
